One thing I was shocked to learn about prominent bike lane advocacy groups is that they are against helmet mandates. Chicago, unlike most cities, doesn’t even require children to wear helmets. This is despite overwhelming evidence that helmets dramatically save lives and prevent serious injury. Why are they against helmet mandates? Because this lowers ridership. Which lowers funding and political support. Think about that. They are willing to let more people suffer from preventable death or traumatic injuries in order to maintain political influence. This is how you know the bike lane debate is not about public safety.

“If driving is made difficult enough, this thinking goes, more people will abandon their cars.” Today’s bike lane movement is driven by irrational car hatred more than rider safety. It is led by fringe ideological zealots and must be completely dismantled.

The LIV golfers who want to return to the PGA shouldn't face any punishment, they left to take more money, the PGA Tour needs to stop acting bitter and let them back in, they also need to understand they have little star power outside Rory and Scheffler.

@MatthewLeeRosen This is the answer no reason to have them calling any balls and strikes.

Further comments: 1. If we're now asking the umpires to measure-up to an impossible standard, then why still have them calling balls & strikes at all? 2. The amount of hate I've received for simply asking others to do some thinking, is sadly representative of our society.

In this instance, less than 0.5% of the ball has actually touched zone. It does't seem justifiable to reverse the umpire's call. The ABS system calculates inches & surface data. I think the rules should be adjusted, so that 25% of the ball must be in the zone for a strike.

Why is this a strike?

High IQ play. Winning run was on 3rd base in extra innings. Fly ball certainly deep enough to win the game. Drew Gilbert catches the ball as low as he possibly can in hopes of getting the runner to leave the base early. Didn’t work. But worth a shot.

I’m way late… But this is some pretty fun baseball IQ from Drew Gilbert in center. He caught the ball as low as *physically possible* to try and get the runner to leave a hair early (then he unleashed a throw that didn’t need a bounce LOL)

The bitterness and smugness toward LIV by the golf media ecosystem, both legacy and independent is alarming and frankly gross. The entitlement attitude of those in the golf industry who have been their for a long time should be embarrassed. Your fellow golf icons, players, media, family, friends, peers and acquaintances who work/worked on LIV will forgive but not forget your words and actions and only time will tell what your personal judgment, sources and slander will mean…in a court of law and in history. Defamation is a serious offence and is punishable for a reason. Very different than an opinion. I hope you (and your employer if you have one) have your sources and lawyers handy because there may be lawsuits and summons coming from @livgolf_league

Super sneaky move here by Drew Gilbert catching the fly ball as low as possible to try and get Adolis to bite and leave early on the tag up. Don't think i've ever seen that.

Ben White clearly made an innocent mistake when walking across the Atletico Madrid crest. He's not showing a lack of respect. He’s caught up in the emotion of the occasion. Simeone father and especially son were unimpressed… #AFC 1/2

@ProGolfCritic @BrendanPorath My favorite part about LIV Golf is that it makes these idiots constantly bark like they wouldn’t take a guaranteed pay raise. It’s completely boggled their brains. Some of the dumbest people on the planet.

The players, who possess the talent, catch the heat and much of the windfall, rightfully. But the agents and specific agencies who used & manipulated this fracture to line their own pockets should not be welcomed back to polite golf society. They are leeches who brought nothing.

I'm not sure there's a bigger self-inflicted casualty of golf's civil war than Jon Rahm. Hurt reputation by taking $ he said he didn't need, torched years of major prime, put Ryder Cup eligibility in jeopardy over a silly fight, after turning down PGA Tour's Koepka exemption might not have a place to play next year

ESPN is so far behind on picks. They’re going to have to figure this 8 min thing out because they can’t be 10+ min behind real time. The whole tipping picks thing is irrelevant when you feel like you can’t be on social media because the TV is that delayed.

@dr_siz @geoffschwartz My point is a helmet doesn’t solve the problem of a person winding up and intentionally hitting them in the head from close range. A helmet isn’t made to protect from that.

@timothyirwin @geoffschwartz they were helmets to protect their heads, get this, in case someone throws a ball and it hits them in the head

@geoffschwartz batter should have been quick to move out of catcher's way. casually stepping back with zero urgency? she'll never be that slow in that situation again. and that's why they wear helmets

@Brett_A_Taylor @tribeoc The question was about setting up the double play. His point is that walking Nico wouldn’t have done that because he immediately takes 2nd.

@tribeoc The only thing I can think of is that he was assuming the question was about setting up the double-play to get out of the inning (and, if so, Nico stealing would negate the value). ... but, dude. The whole point was simply NOT to pitch to Nico!

@bravesfanplzwin @NoLayingUp It's sports. People can root for what they want. As long as they aren't saying inappropriate things. Cheering a miss, or chanting USA (not in the back swing) is fine. You don't have to like it, but you don't get to control people anymore then I do.

Every single professional player who qualified for the Masters could go early and play as many practice rounds as they wish. Just as so many others, including Jack Nicklaus, have done in the past. The only advantage Rory had over the field was his considerable skill.
