Hon’ble Minister @DrJitendraSingh Singh graced the inauguration of the @BIRAC_2012 BioNEST facility at @csircftri Mysuru, marking a significant step towards strengthening India’s science, technology, and innovation ecosystem. In his address, the Hon’ble Minister highlighted CFTRI’s unique role in advancing global priorities such as food security, and underscored India’s leadership in the international millet movement. He noted the Centre of Excellence on Millets as a pioneering initiative, demonstrating how traditional grains can be transformed into modern, nutritious, and commercially viable food products with growing global acceptance. He further emphasized the need to expand the entrepreneurial ecosystem around emerging food technologies, with stronger engagement of startups, MSMEs, and industry stakeholders. The Hon’ble Minister also commemorated key institutional milestones, including the release of a special postal cover marking 75 years of CSIR-CFTRI, book releases showcasing the institute’s scientific and societal contributions, and the signing of strategic MoUs with leading industry partners such as McDonald’s India, Britannia Industries Ltd., and Tata Consumer Products Ltd. Product launches, including innovative millet-based and health-focused offerings, further highlighted the institute’s translational impact. Dr. @drjitendrak170, Managing Director, BIRAC, highlighted the pivotal role of the BioNEST incubation centre in nurturing startups and enabling the translation of research into scalable, market-ready technologies. He emphasized the centre’s support for cutting-edge innovation across domains such as nutraceuticals, precision fermentation, probiotics, and sustainable food solutions, while fostering strong industry–academia linkages.
