@BernieOnChain @WatcherGuru Humans evolve and grow, but they also die. At that point they are no longer posting in Facebook or Insta. That comes to an end. An AI might post, but it is not the individual human who died

@WatcherGuru Surreal... but humans evolve and grow, once AI can learn to predict the growth patterns in past messaging over longer periods of time - only then can it be accurate forecasting messages from beyond the grave to a degree.

@RightisrightNH @DigitalDrifter @JJeffrey100 @Simon_Ingari He did say he was unavailable. Does he really have to say what his plans are? He’s not being asked to stay 30 minutes late but to work again after being off for 2-1/2 hours. It’s hard to work around that if you have plans for dinner, a movie, etc.

@DigitalDrifter @JJeffrey100 @Simon_Ingari Then, as mentioned, a reasonable person says "uh, I'm sorry boss, I can't make it tonight. I made plans w my family, or I'm on kid duty, or whatever." If the boss shows unreasonableness, time for a new job. But if you got nothing going on, you're the jerk for saying no.

Manager: I need you to attend a meeting later today. Employee: Sure — what time? Manager: It starts at 7:30. Employee: In the evening? Manager: Yes. Different time zones. Employee: I’m not available at 7:30 today. Manager: It’s important for your role that you’re there. Employee: If I’d had more notice, I could have adjusted my hours, but I’m off work at 5 p.m. and can’t make it today. Manager: Just sign back in later for the meeting. Employee: I’m unavailable after 5pm. Will the meeting be recorded? Manager: This is a CLM. Employee: Not attending a last-minute meeting outside working hours is a career limiting move? Manager: Yes. It won’t look good when promotions come up. Employee: Okay… (starts typing) Manager: Did you hear me? Employee: Yes. I’m documenting this so I’m clear. I’ll email my notes as well. (The manager looks surprised.) Employee: So, to confirm — refusing unexpected evening work may affect promotion opportunities? Manager: This isn’t necessary. Employee: Anything else you’d like to add? Silence. Employee: No? Okay then.

There’s this never-ending debate about whether em dashes, semicolons, and colons have become signs of AI writing. As a result, many of us writers have stopped using them—swapping them for commas or reshaping sharp, effective sentences into something blander—to avoid suspicion.

@all_themoxie @TheCatholicEngr @FrMatthewLC Teach your child as you see fit, but keep in mind that the altar server with the pope is neither your child nor serving in your parish. As for what God wants, I’ll trust the pope over an internet stranger. Consider reading Romans 14 on how to handle disagreements like this

🤦🏽‍♀️ That attitude is what’s wrong with the world today. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I will not treat God as if He’s common. And I will not allow my children to disrespect our Lord by approaching service carelessly, without acknowledging Whom they serve. Calling something “good” simply because it falls under permissive will is a sad standard. There’s a difference between what God tolerates and what truly honors Him. Scripture makes that clear, often in the form of rejected offerings. Something to consider.

@evanbpeters Who’s down to start AI Netflix with me where we create a platform that consists solely of AI created movies? Aliens staring prime Clint Eastwood? I’d watch that. With AI movies is you can use any actor from any time period. You’re not constrained by age anymore

The thing about AI “movies” is, I just don’t care. I’m not impressed. Really. People are like, “wow look what I made with $39!” and its some wild space movie and it just does nothing for me. I’d rather see a $39 movie made by real people with props and sets that looks cheap and silly than a $39 AI movie that looks like a blockbuster.

@real_lord_miles @thechosenberg That’s a choice you are free to make, and to change later if you so desire. It’s also perfectly fine for the OP to seek a relationship. The marriage ended with the death of his wife. That was 12 years ago. In no way is he being unfaithful to her

@all_themoxie @TheCatholicEngr @FrMatthewLC You have no idea why she wore tennis shoes. Maybe she had a medical reason, such as recovering from an injury. Her pastor allowed it, and the pope allowed it. Why should we jump in to declare a lack of reverence when we don’t know the details and surely cannot read human hearts?

It was disrespectful. I don’t need to question anyone’s salvation to say that. I’m not judging her immortal soul. I’m addressing behavior, and the responsibility of those entrusted with serving, judging, and handling what is holy. Ironically, Scripture gives detailed instructions about what those entering the Holy of Holies were to wear, and what priests were to wear. Those details mattered. (Exodus 28; Leviticus 16) Reverence has always mattered. Why would that suddenly stop because you want to lower our standards or excuse casual worship?

@DavidPaternostr I met one of them back in the 90s—Fr. CA, I think—while visiting Dallas Jesuit. He said that he had no idea his brother was planning to join the Jesuits until he showed up one day for an interview and saw his brother also waiting for an interview!

We had identical twins in my province: Frs. JB and CA Leininger. They entered at a time when every Jesuit wore the same kind of cassock, and they were known to have fun with this. There’s a reason they only worked together at the same high school once…
Sarah@heyaimsarah

OH MY GOD. I cannot believe I forgot this: We had a server with an identical twin. Apparently, they would switch places when one didn’t want to come into work. They told NO ONE - but came in together to quit. The reveal was Incredible. Gasps everywhere. Best day of my life

@MrsD55 @FatherChrisVor1 @JoanneD90486012 There are other ways to explore a vocation: prayer, talking to a priest. I would hope being an altar server is not the only way a teen parishioner gets to know the priest. Priest can visit classes (school and religious ed. program), vocations director can visit high schools

@FatherChrisVor1 @JoanneD90486012 This is a strawman argument. The point is that altergirls take away opportunities for alterboys to explore religious vocations. No one said boys wouldn’t serve because there were girls there and they were afraid.

Yes, I truly would. If what’s needed is a deep kind of reset then so be it. If young men are so cowardly that they will not serve because they saw a girl serving, then I say let it fall.

@tjsingletonjr @PaulinusOfTrier In any case the OP is being didactic about controlling peoples language rather than just accepting the way people speak. As with everything, context will indicate what the person is referring to.

Could people please stop saying "the 1800s" when they mean the 19th Century? I know it's a bit confusing when, aged six, you realise that the 19th Century is the century whose years begin "18" by by age seven the point should be well understood.

@CatholicKyle @BackwardsFeet I guess my thought is less with the abstinence and more with the fasting and particularly with respect to endurance athletes but in general I think most professional athletes should be able to eat one meal of salmon without sacrificing too much performance

Calling all priests/theologians/Canonists/etc, do Catholic professional athletes get a dispensation from fasting and abstinence should it interfere with their need for nutrition as part of their job?
