Here I am stressing about not having enough variety in my programs, worrying that athletes will get bored. Meanwhile, some of the athletes I coach are showing up, not even remembering how to do the warm-up, which we’ve now been doing for 5 weeks 😂 #strengthandconditioning

We have not programmed back squats since the early 2000's. We have won 2 football state championships in 4 years without the back squat. We put a focus on developing a base of bilateral strength using trap bars and front squats while prioritizing single leg strength.

"The mechanism of the back squat is not conducive to athletic performance" I look at the back squat like high school physics. We build a foundation of the basics first same for a developing athlete. BW SQT>Goblet SQT>FS> SBS > back squat if necessary for next level.Risk vs Reward

In the high school setting, kids want to load the bar at the expense of technique.
For me, I am constantly preaching that technique comes before load. No matter what
Thats where youll end up seeing true long term progress. Staying patient and taking it slower at the beginning.

@JoeyBergles It’s not what’s best for young athletes, it’s about the money. 15 billion $$ business. If college & professional athletes need an off season Then young growing bodies need one too. Better off when I was a kid. We played multiple sports. There were no sports medicine clinic.
