@GBRChris_A A good start - obviously only works on streets with lights, and not as good as plugging into your own house - but shows one of many ways how EV’s can still work with terraced houses. With modern EV’s range most would only need to charge once or twice a week, but ideally you’d see

Social media is full of economists & commentators telling farmers they don’t understand what they are talking about. It’s a massive “calm down Dear” aimed at people whose jobs & day to day lives many, many people haven’t got a clue about. #FarmerProtests

@MonkEmma @KirstieMAllsopp To be fair farmers have protested several times about Brexit and cheap imports before,and there have been tractors protesting around parliament before, but it’s not really been covered as much by the media news.sky.com/story/tractors… Strange this time it’s being focused on so much

@KirstieMAllsopp To be fair, these are farmers that were royally shafted by Brexit - and never protested. Were then shafted again by the Aus and NZ trade deals and didn’t want to make a fuss. And now they’re out protesting about a tax that we KNOW will only affect a tiny % of them.

@MonkEmma @MrJamesMay My view is ask yourself this simple question - “should millionaires be able to buy farmland to avoid IHT” - if the answers no, then you don’t disagree with IHT coming in you just think it’s been implemented badly that unfairly hits farmers, which then becomes a different debate

@MonkEmma @MrJamesMay It’s one of those subjects that could do without rhetoric - clearly farmers aren’t cash hoarding because their land is worth millions but equality clearly 96% of all farmers won’t have to pay IHT as claimed. The debate should stick to facts

I’m trying to follow the great farming debate but, as an economics illiterate, I’m baffled. If a farm has a nominal value of, say, £3m but generates an income of only c. £40k, how can it really be worth that much? This is not, bt dubs, a loaded question. I’m interested.

@MonkEmma @MrJamesMay There could well be a big benefit of the new IHT, by closing the loophole tax avoiders will stop buying and prices go down making it easier for new farmers to get into the industry, and push more farms than the 500 a year est under the threshold
