@MillerForTexas @AliciaBirdwell @CoachRLandrum @realDonaldTrump Then the system needs to quit passing kids on to the next grade. Teachers need to hold students accountable. If they fail, they fail. Reteach and tutor. I feel the pains as a hs teacher that has kids just passed through the system and can't read well and have been labeled.

50% of Texas students can't read or write at grade level. We're dooming an entire generation of inner-city kids to poverty and hopelessness. Over 2 million of them are in schools already listed as failed or failing. Who speaks for them? Your not my enemy, the system is. It's destroying our kids. We have a chance to change that. The law is specifically written to protect good public schools while forcing the bad ones to reform. Nothing we've tried has worked. Other states show us that this can.

@GovAbbott So ypur saying a student that doesn't do the work all year or misses to much school can advance to the next level even yhough they can't do the current level just because a parent says they don't want them held back? BAD DECISION.
