There is a phenomenon called visual withdrawal. Check out autism resources. Although withdrawal is often negative, providing a safe and planned for time of withdrawal can be a good thing. There’s also a lot about mindfulness techniques that might give you the word you’re looking for….

I'm trying to think of a word/concept... What is it called when you're overstimulated visually, and you need some kind of counterpoint to look at... to give your eyes a break? Or when babies stare at a blank wall because they're visually overstimulated?
