I joined almost every "beta test" program I could in the 1990's and early 2000's. MSFT, Google, Allaire, Autodesk, etc. I don't ever recall products staying in "preview" status as long as they do today.

@bdam555 @ariaupdated That's how I took the article at first too, but looking back at it, I'm wondering if Microsoft's definition of "re-install" has changed because in-place upgrades are the default route unless there is a reason to do a complete wipe. Either way, more clarification would be better.
