The first paper from the Crewe lab is online today. We found that macrophage-meditated clearance of EVs is a major determinate of circulating adipocyte EV levels. This clearance is disrupted in obesity. A huge effort by Snigdha Tiash! cell.com/cell-metabolis…

Thrilled to share our work "Recessive PPTC7 deficiency triggers excessive mitophagy to cause a severe inborn error of metabolism with hypomyelinating leukodystrophy" - a collaborative effort documenting the first cases of PPTC7 mutations in humans. 1/n researchsquare.com/article/rs-881…

Really thrilled to share our work on mitochondrial presequence strength @JCellBiol. We establish quantitative parameters to better define "strong" and "weak" presequences in vitro and in vivo. This work was spearheaded by the ever talented Youmian Yan, a grad student in my lab.
Journal of Cell Biology@JCellBiol

Youmian Yan, @IanofBristol, @nieminm et al. define quantitative parameters underlying the strength of mitochondrial-targeting presequences, and demonstrate that yeast require strong presequences to facilitate select metabolic pathways in #mitochondria. hubs.la/Q03-1x5l0

Very excited to share our latest work, “Mitochondrial presequences harbor variable strengths to maintain organellar function,” led by the fantastically talented @WashUBBSB graduate student Youmian Yan. A 🧵 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

In search of a modified gomori stain kit that will stain mouse sk. muscle cryosections (myofibers = blue/green, nuclei = red/purple, ragged red fibers = red). Has anyone used VitroView?? #myotwitter

Thrilled to be part of this exciting project on Leishmania and Crithidia doublet microtubule structures. Thanks to my two amazing PIs @RuiZhangWUSTL @PolinaLishko and our fabulous collaborators @alanbrownhms lab, @Gluenzlab lab, and @Zephyris lab🎉🎉🎉

Another wonderful collaboration with @alanbrownhms lab. The Zhang lab together with @PolinaLishko lab (co-first author @QingweiN) contribute the doublet microtubule structure from Crithidia fasciculata, a model organism that infects mosquitoes. science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

One of the joys of mentoring is getting a glimpse into your students “outside the lab” lives. Got to see the amazing #LNYF25 performance including our amazing undergraduate researcher Cynthia Zhi!

Big s/o to my rec letter writers - @lab_meyer, @alexholehouse, & Dr. Robb Tomko (FSU) as I could not do this without them. Also, thank you to my lab mates for the supportive culture they foster and their continued belief in me.

Interested in BNIP3/NIX-mediated mitophagy? Check out our new review, written with @LabFriedman, about recent advances in the field and our thoughts on the regulation of these mitophagy receptors in space and time. doi.org/10.1042/BST202…
