Any nation who has won the World Cup should never have to qualify again. The 8 nations that have lifted football’s biggest trophy should have permanent places in future editions. The World Cup without champions like Italy just doesn’t feel right.

It is incredibly triggering that Italy haven’t qualified for the last three World Cups but slotted in between this remarkable era of failure is a final win against England at Wembley in the Euro’s. What a back breaking missed opportunity to win something.
