Ok, here's what needs to be said that is not being said loudly enough. The West is evil. The West is putting their oligarchic hegemonic interests before the interests of humanity and they are pushing the planet towards catastrophe. Today Trump once again used his words to manipulate the market and pretend that an "agreement" with Iran is at hand. It's not. He gave Iran another week "deadline" but in so doing, he actually bought himself time before the markets catch up to reality. Reality is the problem. With each passing day that the blockade and closure of the Strait of Hormuz remains in place, more people in the poorest countries are guaranteed to starve to death. The transnational Western oligarchy simply does not care. What they care about is pursuing their strategy of acquiring a global energy monopoly through the destruction of their competition. Sure, they would like Russia, Iran, and China to simply fold, but their strategy is not predicated on these nations giving up easily. So all the well-meaning Liberal analysts that are saying that "Trump lost" are confused and simply don't understand the situation. The reality is that the primary phases of the strategy—namely the creation of a global energy scarcity and the monopolization of what's left—are continuing to advance in real time. Of course Trump can't say any of this out loud. Because Trump can't be honest or tell the truth, he has to talk nonsense, and the popular Liberal critics of US policy that I love watching on social media mistake this for ignorance or insanity. If these analysts understood the actual strategy, they wouldn't make this mistake. Trump is setting the US up to be in an enviable position when he decides to crash the global economy. The US is situating itself to have monopoly control of energy and, as an extension of that, food. The US will be in an enviable position because they will get to decide which societies have access to food and energy and which don't. I understand that this explanation may be difficult for people to embrace, but things have been heading in this direction for a long time. We have watched in real time as the US continues to destroy or capture their competition in the energy market, specifically in Russia, West Asia, Venezuela, and even Trinidad and Tobago. It's not just the resources that they are capturing; it's also the markets. Europe is a captured market, totally dependent on US-controlled exports. The same is true for East Asia. Trump is winning by keeping the strait closed and making everyone think he's losing, while he simultaneously manipulates the stock market and keeps panic at bay until the time is right. The objective is total global hegemony, which primarily means the containment of China. The Western oligarchy understands that they can't outcompete China, so they will have to "win" by other means. These means include "not playing fair" and pursuing a policy that plays to their strengths. Their strengths include 800 foreign military bases and the world's greatest blue water navy with 11 total carrier groups. So the plan is to play dirty, crash the global economy, and have the power to determine which countries live and which countries die. The fact that perhaps hundreds of millions of unnecessary deaths may occur as a result of this strategy is probably only more of an enticement. Lastly, everything explained above is crystal clear to both Moscow and Beijing. They are prepared, and they have been preparing for at least a decade for this. The point here is not to be defeatist, and the point is not to exalt the wisdom of Trump. My point here is to respond to the misguided analysts who lack clarity about everything explained above—specifically the scope of the catastrophe that this strategy will be for the planet, and what is motivating the transnational oligarchy to eagerly plow full steam ahead.

The Phoenix Park murders happened today in 1882. The simple act of political violence absolutely shocked British rule in Ireland far beyond the killings themselves. On May 6, 1882, two important figures of British authority Lord Frederick Cavendish, the newly arrived Chief Secretary, and Thomas Henry Burke, the Permanent Undersecretary, were walking toward the Viceregal Lodge (now Áras an Uachtaráin). They were enjoying the balmy evening when the pair were suddenly ambushed and stabbed to death with surgical knives by members of the "Irish National Invincibles," a radical splinter group of the Irish Republican Brotherhood. The Invincibles had specifically targeted Burke, viewing him as the "mind" of the British administration. Cavendish was a powerful unintended bonus, who happened to be walking with him. There were no official eyewitnesses but Lord Spencer, the Lord Lieutenant, was reported to have heard cries or seen the commotion from a distance. The fallout from the assassinations was claimed to help sink hopes of Home Rule, in the short term at least as it forced Gladstone to pass the repressive Prevention of Crimes Act, though he continued to pursue Home Rule in 1886. The investigation, led by Superintendent John Mallon, successfully cracked the case through a mix of interrogation, torture and the promise of immunity. James Carey, a high ranking member, turned "Queen’s Evidence," leading to the execution of five conspirators. These were Joe Brady, Tim Kelly, Michael Fagan, Thomas Caffrey and Dan Curley. The driver, James "Skin-the-Goat"(what a name!) Fitzharris, became a folk legend for his refusal to inform, despite his eventual imprisonment. Carey’s treachery met a swift end. He was shot dead off the coast of South Africa by Patrick O’Donnell (as should always be the fate of oath breakers). Unfortunately O’Donnell himself was subsequently executed in London. Political consequences of the Phoenix Park murders were predictably severe. Sadly they were a PR disaster for Charles Stewart Parnell. The British press used the killings to paint the Irish as "chaotic brutes," nearly derailing the constitutional movement for independence. However, Parnell’s masterful handling actually strengthened his standing with moderate British liberals over time. Ultimately, the Invincibles achieved their goal of chaos, but at a staggering cost. The bodies of the five executed men remain in unmarked graves within the walls of Kilmainham Gaol, serving as a grim reminder of a day that fundamentally altered the course of Anglo-Irish relations. Killing their aristocratic class was just not cricket. You’ll still find echoes of that evening in James Joyce’s Ulysses and the folk song "Monto," ensuring the names Cavendish and Burke remain etched in our citys cultural memory. As long as the interests driving US policy on the other side of the planet aren't made to pay a cost they are more than willing to continue feeding their proxies, including US forces themselves, into endless war.
