Public K–12 spending just topped $1 TRILLION. Average cost per public school student is now higher than typical private school tuition. Meanwhile, students are falling behind and can't read or write proficiently.

UCLA Law has threatened its @FedSoc chapter with punishment if it publicly identifies students seen on video disrupting last week’s viral campus event with a Department of Homeland Security lawyer. But when protesters named chapter members online? No signs of concern from @UCLA_law. This double standard is striking and sounds First Amendment alarms. The First Amendment protects students’ right to share truthful information about a public event, including the names of students who disrupted it, especially where attendees were informed in advance that the event would be recorded. UCLA must make clear that no Fed Soc student member will face discipline for protected speech. Stop picking favorites, UCLA. Correct this immediately.

@ATRightMovies You could pick either: Bend of the River The Far Country Both Jimmy Stewart movies.

Speech being violence is one of the oldest arguments in the book. People discover that the line between speech and violence is a social construct, then decide that means they can redraw it however they like. Usually in a very convenient way.

Truly abhorrent and unimaginable behavior today at the @FedSocUCLA event that hosted a @DHSgov lawyer. Leftist students repeatedly disrupted the event, yelled profanities, shouted, made their phones ping incessantly, and eventually stormed out to a rally that violated all time, place, and manner restrictions. These students can’t handle @FedSoc event about the law, but will remain students at @UCLA_Law and eventually be admitted to the Bar. It is a damning indictment on higher education that students behave so despicably.

This is one of my favorite sayings in the Spanish language. It comes from a 2002 phone call between then Mexican President Vicente Fox and Cuban dictator Fidel Castro which was surreptitiously recorded and leaked. Fox told Castro that he was unwelcome to linger at an international forum in Mexico after a lunch, and put it beautifully: “Comes y te vas” (“You eat and you leave.”) This line comes in handy when you don’t want a work lunch to eat up half your day!

anyone who says "academia went far left" has spent little time at a university department meeting or senate. in fact, anyone who says "academia" isn't on any university payroll.

Government regulation in France: Above a certain size, building new homes requires a licensed architect. Outcome:

It looks like egg producers got less greedy.
