PSA 9 sold for nearly 300k ?! (Note: no PSA 10s) Some of your favorite influencers dont talk about these because they own none. Fade anyone who tells you these arent important or cant be considered rookies (lol). Be wary of false claims to pump their own bags. Even if you hold none, you gotta be paying attention because these were licensed and the rookies. Dont forget that the real collector base also exists outside Twitter. Celebrate higher sales on these. They lead, and everything else thats non TCG released in 1996 will follow.

@poke_maam NR and Corocoro pika/jiggly are the safest bets for long-term holds. There's still a big divide with bandai 96 too, so idk if those prices will come back up since they're not official TCG either but who knows. When the Grails pump then everything else close by gets the overflow

@poke_maam @GoldinCo Good point, if rookie means first appearance then yes definitely. A hard no for me is people marketing them as rookie CARDS. It'll be interesting to see if these will keep going up or crash like the Topsun Charizard that went for 500k a few years back and recently sold for 60k

Yep boils down to general consensus, and thats reflected in what people are willing to pay. I wouldnt pay so much for club part 1 rookie are not, but there are clearly collectors who believe they are rookies and worth that price. Personally, I think it can be argued that size and sticker or not dont stop something from being a rookie. So many rookie cards outside Pokemon are odd sized, and expensive sports rookies are stickers too. But if we want to be very strict, then the "safest" rookies are the NR themselves. No one can deny they arent stickers or shaped right. NR all still very cheap.

@poke_maam @GoldinCo Definitely, I have a couple sealed Tomy figures (one super rare from 96) and manga, but I'll be surprised if any of the stickers reach or beat TCG prices, of course anything is possible. I personally wouldn't call that the Charizard rookie, but general consensus is what matters

Yeah I agree, the TCGs will always be the key for everyone. No Rarity will always be the true first editions, and are also TCGs, not stickers. For the same supply/grade, TCGs will have a premium. But people are gonna collect all sorts of things as they go down the rabbit hole. People collecting games, plastic toys, menkos... quite a lot when you go pre TCG.

Sure there's the argument that this was the first licensed collectible for Pokemon and that's 100% valid, but if youre a TCG collector these are not that

@poke_maam @HelloKittyTimo This is true. I guess I weigh pop reports too highly. Having 30 in a psa 10 somehow puts it in the price range of balloon pika for me personally. Then surfing at 15 and mewtwo with 7. You may be right though that people are really placing a premium in it since its the first mew

Corocoro Lily/ lilypad mew just sold for >2k in PSA 5. While everyone talks about Ivy Pika there is still a lot of opportunity for Corocoro. Imo the best entry on a lot (asides from mew, pika, pudding) of them was on April, because the price increase from December wasnt too absurd. I know eg @AltApe_sol was smartly sweeping all the betas up after getting some pika and pudding, very recently. People entering before actually didnt get the most capital efficient entries. Always look for other beta plays asides from the leaders. So dont think man I missed the boat, I wish I was here last year. There is always another opportunity somewhere, youre seldom too late, but sometimes you may need to dig harder and go for less obvious plays.

@poke_maam @HelloKittyTimo Just odd that it went so high randomly, I hope it continues. The other corocoros sold tonight and seem way undervalued. Maybe theyre all catching up and mew is first up following pika/Jiggly due to release date?

@HelloKittyTimo @poke_maam Me too! I watched a 10 go for 11k and knew it was low, but didn't pull the trigger. I have two raws that are probably 8s, but guess we wont know for 75 days! Lol

@HelloKittyTimo If you need any help gathering data id be glad to help. Yeah id agree about the 9s. Chansey in a 9 went for 16.2k, mewtwo 17k two sales. 3x more than 1st ed. But the 8s behave differently, NR 8s and below sell for less I believe than their 1st ed counterparts.

Charizard no. 1 despite highest population. I feel market wise the market is generally correct with 3 exceptions - Venusaur is too cheap - Raichu is too cheap - Mewtwo is too expensive - Clefairy was a bit of a surprise seems they are also slightly undervalued
