Irungu Kang’ata has just exposed the biggest political irony in Kenya today. UDA rose to power because Kenyans sympathized with a movement that was being frustrated, cornered and politically persecuted by the Jubilee regime. The pressure created rebels, and the rebels became the government. Now the same UDA leadership is repeating the exact same script against critics, dissenters and alternative voices as if they have forgotten what made wananchi rally behind them in the first place. Maybe the problem is this: we overrated William Ruto as a political genius. A true strategist studies history and avoids repeating the mistakes of fallen regimes. What we are witnessing instead is a government recycling arrogance, intimidation and political revenge while expecting different results. Power has a way of exposing whether someone was truly brilliant or simply benefited from the anger of the moment.

If, by some miracle, @rigathi or @edwinsifuna ends up in State House in 2027, won't they have 'dissenters'? They will. Do you know how they will deal with them? God forbid, but from what I've seen from the two, they will turn out worse than @WilliamsRuto. Have you noticed how they react when they encounter those with a contrary political opinion? Yes? It’s clear that William Ruto still fears Uhuru Kenyatta. Every time Uhuru appears in public, Ruto sends his attack dogs to remind him that if he continues to stay active in politics, they will deny him his retirement benefits. The funny thing is, Uhuru has never responded directly to Ruto. He always put him together with kina Oscar Sudi and Farouk Kibet, then calls them Vinyangarika. After moving around the country yesterday insulting him, today another bunch of his attack dogs will likely issue the same threats to Uhuru during church services. What they don't know is that Uhuru is not like Gachagua, the more you attack him they more the people of the mountain distance themselves with Kasongo.

@WilliamsRuto does not fear Uhuru. It's just that he dreads the day he'll have to order his arrest and prosecution on charges of grand corruption. This is not a pleasant thing to do to former friends and ex-presidents. To avoid this, Ruto has been giving Uhuru lifeline after lifeline. But the guy is too drunk to see what is good for him. Today, I was in church with his his mother and uncle, George Muhoho. I almost advised them to talk to their son. Or send him into rehab.
