If the child on the left was old enough to pick cotton and the child on the right was old enough to attend Klan rallies, then today's children are old enough to learn about both of these and how they've led us to where we are today.

Yes, I actually do know how it feels to have to fear the police. I left my abusive childhood home at the age of 14. I was truly homeless, a teenage runaway in LA, Compton, Inglewood…not safe places. I didn’t even have a car to sleep in. I have had guns pointed at me by the police multiple times. I was arrested multiple times as a minor. I spent years avoiding the police because they would put me in foster care and foster care was a bigger hell than home. I have had friends killed by the police, all of them white. They resisted arrest or ignored orders. It’s called suicide by cop on the street. Our skin color didn’t do us any good out there. I taught my sons how to act with police because I know for a fact their skin color won’t save them, and worse, nobody will care if they’re killed by the police. Americans only care when non-white people are killed by the police, so I have the added privilege of knowing my sons matter less in our society. I also have the privilege of my sons living in a world where racism against them is actually institutional, mainstream, and accepted. I’m also Ashkenazi Jew. Some of my ancestors were murdered in Nazi Germany. And? Everyone’s ancestors went through some bad stuff. Stop keeping kids down by telling them they’re oppressed today.

Watching a fascinating report from @Year13 on Gen Z consumer behaviour and beliefs. 91% believe business behaving ethically is somewhat, very or extremely important to them. Almost 3/4 believe businesses should take a stand on political/social issues like The Voice Referendum.

78% will research a company before applying for a job there. 3 times higher for women than men.

67% of Gen Z respondents will sometimes, often or always research the ethics and social i impacts of a brand before purchase. Again, much higher for women than men.

As a founder, the only thing that matters to me is an ability to make things people want, and then sell them. Lina Khan—appointed by the current administration—has made this illegal: going as far as blocking a merger because it would make the market for “accessible-luxury handbags” too concentrated. We are now at the point where the government exists purely to exact revenge on the private sector.
