Very happy to announce that my article has been published in the Journal of Applied Linguistics and Professional Practice 🥳 Can't deny the irony though, that my article on communication during a pandemic was delayed by another pandemic... journal.equinoxpub.com/JALPP/article/…

It also means that we need to understand the individual's emotional state and the impact their culture might have. This, we can only learn through dialogue and collaboration! #GlobalVaccineConfidence

Not one message, one approach, one language fits all. It's crucial not to forget those that don't speak the national language, that don't get their news through the mainstream channels, or those that don't have access to social media or the internet #GlobalVaccineConfidence

To raise vaccine confidence, we need to meet people where they already are, not just geographically but also culturally, emotionally and digitally #GlobalVaccineConfidence

One thing I love about #Luxembourg : I'm organising a meeting between multiple institutions and I have to indicate what languages will be used: English will be spoken, French will be written and Luxembourgish is being used to set up the meeting

I wrote a short article on the importance of adapting health and risk communication strategies to the local socio-cultural context. May be of interest to some. It's been published in the African Newsletter on Emerging Infectious Diseases & Biosecurity (3) bit.ly/3gUfGAV

@sujewe @AJEnglish I totally agree. It's impossible to predict the extent of the epidemiological impact considering how little we know about the virus. I take issue with so called thought leaders painting an entire continent as helpless and ignoring the local experience and expertise.

@tomjrausch @AJEnglish Tom, much of the time I think the epidemiological guesses are premature. No doubt Africa will be hit by the global economic shutdown, but we do not know how much or whether the virus itself will do as much damage as it's being projected
