@Smil3yAngel Get serious Jen. Cda is circling the bowl under Liberal Trudeau-Carney 'leadership.' Unless u r a dyed in the wool Lib "my party right or wrong' type, how about u challenge urself by doing an in depth assmt of Lib perf against meaningful criteria. (not anti-Trump 'elbows up' )

“These leaders are not gods! Get them out! There might be someone worse coming up behind or not - but we still have to get rid of Doug Ford and Danielle Smith!” Ontario and Alberta have right wing authoritarians to oust from office. 🚨🇨🇦 youtu.be/6Of6huWAxxg?si… #Onpoli #Ableg

@PaulStewartII Th independence referendum & th misuse of th voters list r 2 different issues, th second having nothing to do with/or no effect on the first. Stop trying 2 leverage the voters list issue to blackwash the referendum. Respect the demo process & Albertans right 2 decide 4 themselves

The Centurion Project leader, David Parker, who is alleged to have exposed the personal information of nearly 3 million Albertans, is now refusing to cooperate with the ongoing investigation, according to Elections Alberta. This is deeply concerning. Bad actors in our democracy are a danger to us all. Yet Danielle Smith and the UCP government have still failed to take meaningful action to protect Albertans from the potential threat this data breach poses. It is time to put politics aside and act in the best interest of Albertans. Yesterday, the UCP voted down Bill 210, introduced by the Alberta NDP, legislation that would have provided Albertans with basic credit protection services against fraud and identity theft in the event of a data breach. That protection is needed now more than ever. theglobeandmail.com/canada/alberta…

Not sure why we are having all these discussions about #AlbertaIndependence, the bottom line is, #Alberta cannot separate. Alberta cannot unilaterally secede because it lacks prior sovereign status; it was carved from federal territory via the Alberta Act in 1905. 1/4

Alberta separatists claim oil is the key to independence and they’re not gonna pay income tax. Wellllll Alberta made $22B from oil & gas royalties last year. Sounds like the industry is carrying the whole province, right? Here’s what they don’t tell you. Income taxes brought in $24.2B. Regular Albertans and businesses quietly out-contributed the oilpatch. And oil isn’t stable. In 2015 when prices tanked, resource revenue collapsed to $2.8B. The province ran deficits almost every year from 2008 to 2022. Next year, with oil forecast lower, resource revenue is projected to drop to $13.2B while income tax stays steady near $24B. So when someone tells you we can’t afford to question the oil industry, or that pipelines and royalty breaks are non-negotiable because oil funds everything, ask them this: Why does a province sitting on one of the world’s largest energy reserves keep going broke every time the price of a barrel moves? The industry is important. Nobody’s denying that. But it’s a volatile. Alberta has been using boom revenues to avoid hard conversations instead of building something durable.

@sarobertsonca Then why do ur full court press against the referendum? U seem scared that 50%+1 may happen. If so, there can very much be a point to the negotiations that follow, but if u remain intransigent Alta goes. If u r open 2 chg, Cda may yet b saved bt Altans w decide.

A new report released Wednesday, Decision Making and National Unity Under Threat, warns that foreign actors are exploiting existing divisions in how Albertans feel about separatism. The report identifies Russia, the U.S, and profit driven opportunists using AI as actors spreading misinformation and disinformation to inflame division, cause confusion and weaken trust during the separatism debate. This report exposes a complete failure of leadership by Danielle Smith. Foreign actors are exploiting Albertans' feelings, and her weak leadership has made us all a target for it. They are actively influencing separatism, and instead of stepping up, the Premier has done nothing. The report is clear: foreign actors didn’t create Albertans’ frustration – but they are exploiting it. Mixed messages about foreign interference have deepened the confusion. Yesterday, Mike Ellis, UCP Minster of Public Safety, said the RCMP found no evidence of foreign interference. Yet the report shows that claim is wrong or seriously incomplete, leaving Albertans vulnerable. All of this is happening while nearly three million Albertans have had their personal information exposed in the massive elections data breach scandal, with that data published online by a separatist group. Combined with clear evidence of foreign interference, there are serious questions about whether a separatism referendum could be fair, secure, or trusted by Albertans. Albertans are feeling ignored and unprotected. Their frustration is being exploited by foreign actors, and the Premier’s weak leadership is making it worse. The Premier needs to get her head out of the sand and explain to Albertans exactly what she will do to protect our province from foreign interference and protect Albertans from this massive data breach. cbc.ca/news/canada/ca…

@RealTalkRJ The Independence referendum and the voter list leak are two separate and unrelated items. Albertans hv legit grievances and deserve to have their voices heard with a vote to stay or go. Stop trying to kill the referendum w ur phony outrage over the data leak.

The sleaziest, most dangerous form of politics happening in Canada is in Alberta, right now. And Smith licensed it - if not approved it. Some people are going to go to jail, methinks. #ableg #cdnpoli

Dear MDs in the U.S. - Canada's the place to be. We're not perfect, but have rule of law, less chance being shot or arbitarily face arrest, sane government, friends and respect around the world, a belief in real science and a health system that won't bankrupt your patient.
