I could use some help from land use/ROW nerds. ❤️ SDOT is telling us that we need to pay a fee ($400 this year) annually for a 1’ high retaining wall between us and our neighbors.

@sean_roulette Yeah it’s absurd, when I can see far more egregious “offenses” from said wall. We also realized there has always been a small retaining wall there, at least since 2008. This one is just modern, I assume done when they repaired the driveway. DM incoming!

We can’t afford the annual fee, we can’t afford the permit to remove the wall, nor the cost of removing it. It’s a lovely small wall that helps keep the hill from falling into our yard. It all feels so absurd.

I’ve looked at records all over our area and haven’t found a permit like ours anywhere. The permit was not disclosed when we bought the house.

@AnnaZivarts @seattledot @wsdot I fell off my bike at MLK/Mass exactly a month ago, got my first ambulance ride (as an adult), even. I’m very happy this exists, even if I won’t be able to ride on it for a long time as I recover.

@tonyaricks @SoundTransit Hi Tonya, youth with a valid youth ORCA card ride free on the Monorail (this went into effect back in May 2023). Each youth must have their own youth ORCA card - they tap at our faregates on the yellow ORCA reader (tap on only, please don’t tap as you exit). 🚝👍🏽

@SoundTransit @SeattleMonorail Although kids are free on Metro and Link, they need to pay on the Monorail, correct? If I have a kid Orca card, will it register the child fee? (I have two kids, so I’ll have to buy at least one ticket, but I thought I’d check.)

Enjoy LWB while you can this weekend because Sunday at 6pm it returns to being a road that nearly everyone speeds on.

According to an SDOT's speed study done between December 13 and 19th the average speed on Lake Washington Boulevard at Horton is 32MPH with a max speed of 86mph. LWB is designed as a dangerous race course. It's only a matter of time before someone dies on the street.

Personally I think our Park Boulevards should not be designed allow cars to careen off them into popular children swim beaches, exploding into a burnt out husk, and polluting the water 🤷🏼‍♂️
