Running will add years to your life. Since turning 35, I’ve run 9,000+ miles and 7 ultramarathons. Here are 15 simple changes I made to build my running habit (that you can do too): 1. Most people try to speed up. The secret is to slow down. 2. Once in a while go harder. Push yourself to go fast. 3. Stop trying to run 10km on your first day. Start with 1km, add 10%. 4. Half of your running pain is due to improper footwear. Get good shoes. 5. Running isn’t just about running. Pick up some weights. Build your body. 6. Drink more water. 7. Your body is the vehicle, and food is the fuel. To be your best, eat right. 8. Sleep is the most undervalued action anyone can take to improve their performance. 9. One of the fastest ways to recover is to give yourself a massage. Buy a foam roller. 10. The best thing you can do to run better is to take 5 minutes to prepare yourself. Warm-up. 11. There’s no point in plowing through pain. When you need a break, rest. 12. Going for a run can be hard. Setting a goal to run 3x/week is easy. Manipulate your mind. 13. Don’t wait for a new years resolution to start running. Make it a habit. Do it consistently. 14. Track how far you’ve run. What you measure, you improve. 15. Running is one of the most rewarding activities. Always remember your why. Be proud of how far you go. That's it! Thanks for reading my post. If you enjoyed this, 2 requests: 1.
