This is so important. If the GOP is telling you they can’t do anything unless we restore a condition that hasn’t existed in a century, they never intended to do anything in the first place.
Mike Lee@BasedMikeLee

The filibuster is used to excuse failure in the Senate—“we can’t get to 60, so we can’t do what we promised we’d do when we were campaigning” There haven’t been 60 Republicans in the Senate since 1911 It’s time to restore the talking filibuster or nuke the zombie filibuster

Incredible: Gov. Spanberger (D-VA) told localities NOT to post pictures of the gerrymandered maps that people were voting on, saying they should direct people to the General Assembly's website if they wanted to know. But the General Assembly doesn't seem to show the maps either!

so CBS News under Bari Weiss now relies on the editorial judgment of a former Tom Cotton staffer who thinks Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize how embarrassing and pitiful

Colorado’s law carves out exceptions for discrimination for “good purposes”—forcing companies to have their algorithms make value judgments and challenging our ability to have neutral tools. @CivilRights & @DOJCivil are on it to protect the rights of all Americans!

SCOOP: The Navy just confirmed it. Ammar Campa-Najjar @ACampaNajjar candidate for Congress and boyfriend of @RepSaraJacobs, was forced to take corrective action after allegations he misused his military position in a political campaign. An Inspector General complaint triggered his chain of command to step in and fix his campaign materials to comply with DoD rules. And it’s not over. Additional concerns about his campaign Facebook page have now been referred for further action.

Every single legitimate group that was slandered by the SPLC should join in a class action suit - not just against them - but against all the institutions that de-platformed, de-banked or otherwise harmed them because of the SPLC.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is the perfect example of what happens when your organization requires outrage to fundraise, and then that outrage dries up. When they ran out of legitimate outrage, they manufacturer fake alternatives. The ACLU does the same thing as do the NAACP and the rest of the organizations competing in the outrage Olympics.

This is a response to Tillis holding up the nomination of the new Fed. Chairman. He has demanded that the criminal investigation be closed. Fine. Done. IG investigation is not a criminal investigation, but it can lead to a criminal referral depending on the findings. This accomplishes the political needs of the WH in getting the new Fed Chair confirmed -- Powell's term as Chairman ends this month. Maybe there is no criminality, only incompetence, in the Fed's remodeling with $2 billion in overruns. That's what the subpoenas were intended to look for. The IG can compel production of info from the Fed without a subpoena.
US Attorney Pirro@USAttyPirro

This morning the Inspector General for the Federal Reserve has been asked to scrutinize the building costs overruns – in the billions of dollars – that have been borne by taxpayers. The IG has the authority to hold the Federal Reserve accountable to American taxpayers. I expect a comprehensive report in short order and am confident the outcome will assist in resolving, once and for all, the questions that led this office to issue subpoenas. Accordingly, I have directed my office to close our investigation as the IG undertakes this inquiry. Note well, however, that I will not hesitate to restart a criminal investigation should the facts warrant doing so.

LMAO -- You don't identify a single thing wrong with the indictment. You only challenge the premise -- that SPLC's mission is such that it can do no wrong in its pursuit of racists and hate groups. "A weak indictment" -- your failure to support your premise only exposes the duplicity of your claims.
Joyce Alene@JoyceWhiteVance

I’ve had time to study DOJ’s indictment of the Southern Poverty Law Center now, and it only gets more disturbing as you do that. A weak indictment, in the lineage of the one filed against Jim Comey & dismissed & the one against members of Congress advising soldiers they didn’t have to obey illegal orders that a grand jury declined to indict, there seems to be an ulterior motive here, which I discuss in this piece. joycevance.substack.com/p/whats-wrong-…

That puts those bank officials in a box, and the persons who filled out the applications in a box. There was 100% a conversation at the time about what the accounts would be use for an why. Banks don't allow opening accounts as "dba's" in the name of non-existent entity -- that violates banking regulations. They did it here as an accommodation based on whatever reason they were given. Big No-No.
Brando@Real_Brando

@shipwreckedcrew As someone wo works on bank software for FDIC banks and has seen application forms this indictment is hillarious. The bank, prosecutor, and GJ has the account application forms and the SPLC royally screwed up lying to them. That part is pretty done deal.

If the SPLC's payments of millions of dollars to individuals involved with racist hate groups wasn't controversial, why did the SPLC take active steps to conceal what it was doing? If donors would have been fine with what they were doing, why the need for bank accounts in the name of fictitious companies?

That could have been done in a completely legal fashion by a clever accountant. There were plenty of ways to do that if the only goal was to sever the link between SPLC and the recipients of the funds. Then it would be clear that maintaining that "plausible deniability" was the only purpose. That's not how it was accomplished.
PJP3441@peterp2690

@shipwreckedcrew So the groups it was infiltrating didn’t know. It’s dangerous work.
