Over 10 years ago I said I’d like to visit 100 countries by 40. Then I forgot. 9 years of searching “Everywhere” on Skyscanner…I’m at 86. Some multiple. Some once. 16 months left, it’s within reach. It’s official: Road to 100 🌍 Overnight stays only. Next up: Andorra 🇦🇩

@njames_digital The no Chinese visa requirement is also a plus. I’d love to start in Moscow, take the train to Beijing via Mongolia and then into North Korea.

@touchtheworld6 Air China resuming direct flights to Pyongyang from Beijing too at the end of this month. Easier for a lot of British travellers with no Chinese visa requirement now too! 🤞 soon

Train services are resuming between China and a North Korea, it’s not opening yet for most foreign visitors it seems, but is this the start of it? I’ll be going if it is.

@pagrev I’ll be jumping on the next time it fully opens for sure. Just seems fascinating to me.

Later in the year I’m going to be flying British Airways for only the 3rd time in my life. It was the most convenient option coming home from Istanbul in September. Cost £64 one way, but I’m more used to £30 or less flights with Wizz Air. Time for some luxury in my life.

@seymour_dan 😂 I remember it being pretty decent when I last flew in 2021. That was also the last time I was in Heathrow.

It's alarming how little £100 buys you in the supermarket these days. I don't know how people are going to cope with the next round of fuel hikes.

Have people visited Algiers independently (U.K. citizen), using an agency for an invitation letter/visa? What agencies? I’d be going for a couple nights on my way back from Tajikistan.

I see the North Korea marathon has been cancelled this year It was the only realistic way for western tourists to visit North Korea is the hardest country in the world to access right now

🇧🇷 If you're in Brazil, don't skip Búzios. Two hours from Rio but feels like a different country. Crystal water, small calm beach towns, great seafood. Brazil has layers most tourists never see.

🚨 Breaking 🚨 Afghanistan now has an evisa, which saves a lot of hassle going through embassies I haven’t tested thoroughly, but couldn’t get a verification code to go through the process. So there appear to be flaws Hearing it starts from $130 eafghans.com/e-visa/?fbclid…

@HLTCO I watched Swansea City for the best part of 20 years, and most other football, was a massive part of my teens, twenties and early thirties. It’s been about 3/4 years since I’ve watched an entire game of football. Got bored, lost interest and wanted to do other things.

I don’t know if it’s just the echo-chamber of my Twitter algorithm but it really does feel, this season in particular, as though a hell of a lot of people are falling out of love with the Premier League. Crucially not with football as a whole but with the Prem particularly.
Green Scouser@Green_Scouser

Does any neutral fan enjoy watching games of football anymore when their team isn't involved? I think the PL is at its lowest ever level in terms of entertainment. The nonsense during det pieces, poor standard of refereeing and too much play acting has made it unwatchable

Starting to consider Tajikistan instead of Mauritania. Return flights to Africa are over £500 & I’m already planning an Eastern Africa trip for November. Return flights to Tajikistan are less than £250, and there’s a lot of Silk Road history I want to see including Khujand.

I’ll always overland when I’m there. Even Mauritania via Morocco to London is coming in at £350 one way. Getting to Laayoune is about £150 one way which is okay. Fewer airlines in country too. Mauritania only really goes to Gran Canaria or Morocco. Half tempted to cross back in by land to Dakhla and get a flight home via Spain as it’s far cheaper.

@touchtheworld6 Yes, Africa after Asia or LATAM is shockingly expensive. It is often cheaper to fly from Europe than intra Africa flight. Cheaper flights are to Morroco, Dakar, Lome, Lagos, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Addis Abeba, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Egypt, Zanzibar and that travel overland.

For the last few years I’ve been travelling in Eastern Europe, Turkey, Middle East & Central Asia. I’ve used Ryanair, Wizz Air, Pegasus & AJet. Now, I’m looking at a return to Africa, and the flight prices seem insane compared to the budget airline fares I’m used to paying.

@FormerlyWTC Yes, definitely. Found decent priced flights between Tanzania/Kenya for another trip. I’ve always known they were high, I’ve just not looked at them since 2022 when I was last in West Africa.

@touchtheworld6 Africa is notorious for high airfares particularly on intra Africa routes. LCC’s aren’t a thing in sub Saharan Africa.
