saddest archetype is the moderately-intelligent late 20s guy who followed the path laid out for him, and now he's in a "stable" job, £90k/year, gf, a kid or two, etc. who thinks he's somehow successful in life because the only frame of reference he has is his friends. the same friends who put in less than 1% effort in school and ended up earning only 20-30k less than him. they're basically in the same position. hard work, and intelligence to an extent, are only applicable on the open market. no matter how smart or hard working you are, if you only direct that energy towards the "safe zone" of school, university, corporate job, etc. your input is only correlated to output up to like 100k/year. (you might as well be broke at that point, 100k isn't shit) the great thing about twitter is VERY early on it exposed me to 16 year olds who were using my yearly income goal as their monthly ad spend. it doesnt matter how smart, hard working, or creative you are. if you apply it within the confines of what society tells you, you're fucked.

I’m already seeing a lot of posts saying “how are they going to wrap up all these storylines with one episode left” they aren’t. Just because a season ends doesn’t mean all the stories wrap. Nolan and Joy have already said they have enough story for 5-6 seasons. Likely will have some stories ending, layers to other stories, more starting as the show progresses. I’d love to have more episodes each season, but more episodes wouldn’t mean they would rush a story by.

The reason why this feels weird btw is because Canada is embracing a two tiered justice system. Criminals will have their identities hidden or be given lesser sentences because of immigration status, religious affiliation or ethnic background. Meanwhile, the police will blast out some woman’s photo for the crime of being “potentially racist” and act like it’s normal. No, you don't ask for a refund. You acknowledge that you willingly decided to fly on a plane with other people, and some of those other people may have babies that will cry. Then you learn an important lesson about bringing noise canceling headphones. If you don't want to risk listening to a crying baby, you can fly private. I promise you, the kids' parents are probably more stressed out about it than you.

What was going through the mind of the person who wrote this sign? I could be the "expert" in this scenario; I know how to use a dozen different kinds of sword of very different weights and lengths, and I'm very used to picking up a strange blade and testing how it moves. Weight, balance, and moment of inertia are real physics. They don't stop applying just because the thing you have in your hand is a crappy low-quality blade that reifies somebody's cartoon fantasy. Furthermore, in the hands of a competent swordsman (and I'm competent enough - it's not actually a high bar) even a crappy replica blade can be lethally surprising. Nobody who doesn't know these things has any business lettering a sign like that. Anybody who does know these things instantly recognizes that this sign is deeply stupid - ignorance masquerading as sophistication.
