Man United doesn't have a defined style of play. They are basing it on respecting and enforcing the basic principles of the game. It's about doing the basics and playing to the strengths of every individual. It's simple, old-school, but it works. And it's smart by Carrick because if he had tried to enforce any sort of philosophy, they would be in mid-table with us at the moment.
