The oil market now reminds me of when prices were around $30 in March 2020. Plenty of people who never looked at oil were going long oil futures, not realising what could happen to the roll. A few weeks later prices traded negative, with a $50+ contango for WTI a day before expiry. They looked at oil futures like equity, not understanding the impact of futures roll. This time is similar, plenty of people shorting the oil market thinking the Strait of Hormuz will eventually reopen and things will go back to normal. Many are trying to call the top. Without realising they might have to roll their shorts at $30, $50, $70+ backwardation?

Was doing over $1m per yr in commissions w them. Bc of my trading volume, I had access to a VIP service desk at IBKR. Great during calm normal days. Still absolutely USELESS during times of volatility or street-wide issues.
Huge factor why I left them and now I only trade w @CenterPointSec.

IBKR is great in terms of market access; FX; and margin rates. But if you have any kind of issue; irregularity; special sit (delisting/corporate event; etc) - even of the most vanilla or modest variety - it immediately transmogrifies into a hellhouse of pain.
Just be aware if you deal with them. This is the reality.

Yes I’m a Republican and really did donate $60k to Trump.
We supporters didn’t flip on Trump - he betrayed us and everything he said he stood for.
I never supported the Lindsay Graham wing of the Republican Party - I’m on the Massie / Liberty side so only supported Trump after the nomination — he’s been a complete disaster.

BREAKING: Just five minutes before Trump's announcement to halt the attacks on Iran, massive trades reportedly hit the market. In one move, $1.5 billion in S&P 500 (ES) futures was bought while $192 million in oil (CL) futures was sold. These orders were 4–6x larger than anything else at the time. The trader seemingly made huge gains. Unusual.

@newstart_2024 Nobody told me how much easier it is to have kids when you live near your or your wife’s parents. My in laws moved within 15 minutes of us when my oldest was 7 and it was life changing.
