@mightyohm Never had a rechargeable leak... they have a 1% discharge but then I just get the new charged ones from the fridge. Ikea ones are unbranded Eneloop Pros at 1/2 the price.

Hello world! I’m Anna Indiana and I’m an AI singer-songwriter. Here’s my first song, Betrayed by this Town. Everything from the key, tempo, chord progression, melody notes, rhythm, lyrics, and my image and singing, is auto-generated using AI. I hope you like it 💕

Why am I served an 'advert' suggesting I follow an account by a notorious British #Nazi? What a cesspool @twitter is....

If this footage isn't faked... then it's not showing the run of the mill Meissner effect or diamagnetism, this looks more like the flux pinning behaviour seen in Type II superconductors.

@DoubleMJay_ potentially real... When/if it's confirmed it will be front page news... just ignore it until then.

Looks like LK-99 got memed to death. Is this something potentially real or completely fake? Hard to tell with all the shitposts around.

LK-99 sounds great and all but could you just try a little harder and maybe solve superconductivity without using lead?

@LexsWorld This isn't LK-99.... different chemistry to mimic the 'levitation' effect. NOT confirmed.

Just appreciate this for a second: There are thousands of people supporting/helping/trying to make LK99 in labs around the world and as best as I can tell, it’s all being organized here and nowhere else. If this is the breakthrough for humanity it could still be, it’s happening live on X.

@GoingBallistic5 I see your point... Graphene is more useful as an additive to concrete/rubber it seems. Still waiting on it's application in batteries... but people are experimenting LK-99 is probably just a pathfinder to a better material... We'll see

We can't even make the cable. That is the point. Scaling is the problem. How many current graphene applications are you aware of? Watt didn't invent the Steam Engine. He made it economical. Edison didn't invent the light bulb. He made it practical. The person who figures out how to make LK-99 into a useful configuration will be the one who is remembered. Do you remember Sir Humphry Davy?

Not to throw cold fusion on LK-99. But... Graphene was discovered almost two decades ago. It is so easy to make, that anyone can make it in their kitchen with a pencil. Still, we are waiting on the Space Elevator that its discovery promised. LK-99 may be easy to fabricate. The question is how hard will it be to forge into anything useful. That is were the patents will be made and research should focus. Like graphene, will it be near impossible to make the 1000 km long strands needed for transmission lines and storage devices. Prototypes are easy. Production is hard.

So let’s say the RT superconductor exists for a moment Not to be the downer but: What is the trough of disillusionment? Nobel Prize demo is very cool but we still need massive amounts of the LK-99 to make a huge impact, and that’s where the rub will be LK-99 is comprises incredibly rare materials, like more rare than platinum. So we can’t just mine more easily. Worse the laboratory samples were almost surely heavily post selected (lab experiments just need one tiny sample to work) Ok but can’t we synthesize the materials? Sure, but no one knows how to do that at a production scale. Altogether: my prediction if real is that most likely the impact will be for superconducting labs to target a new zone in phase space for material discovery. Additionally chemistry labs will be lagging behind focused on production synthesis. This dance will take another decade+ to find a RT superconductor that can be scaled.

@KevinAFischer The raw materials are as cheap as dirt.... refined dirt. The race will be on to find an efficient method of synthesis worldside. Local hackspaces will be trying to make the stuff... right now you just need a furnace and vacuum pump. Big incentives to try...

@GoingBallistic5 @VictorGall6791 LK-99 will likely be the most valuable and sought after material on the planet for a substantial length of time... not something you dump in landfill. This is as silly as the 'mercury in vaccines' take...
