Trouble With The Slap

@PedroGoBlue Yeah definitely fell off towards the end of the season and the big ten has a solid second tier this year but I don’t think anyone is putting them lower than 4 if they are being honest and objective (and they beat two of the teams you might even put above them)

Next year’s MSU squad: 1 - fears, divine, medlock 2 - Scott, Teng, jervis 3 - Carr, Glenn 4 - Ward, Avent 5 - portal C, McCulloch, Taylor

@Idontplay3v3 Got to get a transfer C. I think McCulloch has great potential if he can grow in the defense, later quickness, and rebounding areas of his game

@trblewithdaslap Our success next season is gonna completely come from the center position. I just dont know if jesse can play significant minutes (he doesnt offer much other than his shot it seems). And Taylor has good size but i doubt he plays much in year 1

@SpartanBengal I thought about that too but I could see Izzo trying to accommodate him because once fears leaves we would only have one PG if Divine transferred. Could bring in a freshman but then you have a frosh and soph at point, not very Izzo-like

@trblewithdaslap I'd say Divine is. Hes redundant across the 1 and 2. Could easily see him getting squeezed out of the rotation

@SpartanBengal Agreed, I think they all can be really helpful pieces if they keep progressing. It did feel like maybe tennis the most likely to go though just given the numbers at that position

@trblewithdaslap I really hope Teng stays. He made a nice jump this year and is a tough shot maker. I also dont want Jessie leaving. Getting Fears back is a must. Carr would be great too, but I expect him to go through the nba process before eventually returning

@sbuchman Teng I could understand because of the backlog but McCulloch would surprise me. He’ll only be a sophomore next year and could still be the starter for two years after next year. But I guess kids don’t want to wait anymore

@Theo71627 We are in agreement! The playmaking will still have to run through fears but you are right, we don’t have a go to option when we need an easy bucket. Would love a portal big that could get their own on the block

@trblewithdaslap That just won’t be the case anymore. I don’t know what the identity or offense will look like without that down low. They need to drop a bag on a quality portal big or it’ll be the downfall of the team. High hopes though! It’s going to be an awesome year

@NickySinger777 I’d throw the biggest bag at a starting center if I were Izzo. I think it’s not only the biggest hole for next year’s roster but also could be a game changer for this squad

@patriotXXXVI I like this idea, Ward brings energy for sure so could be a good role for him. Just not sure Izzo will think the lineup is big enough for rebounding

@GlennD424242 @ericfudgingrant Injuries definitely played a big role this year so it doesn’t hurt to have depth, if you can keep them on the team and happy

@trblewithdaslap @ericfudgingrant Agreed. The roster offers a ton of flexibility. Hopefully they avoid injuries so the players talents can me maximized.

@Ryan_Mason23 I think all of this is possible, just really hard to project. I wouldn’t have thought holloman would’ve transferred last year but then he did. We will see where the chips fall but it does seem like guard has a bit of a logjam

@trblewithdaslap Glenn will likely start at the 4. Jervis will either start at the 2 or be right behind Scott….no way he is buried on the depth chart. Medlock will be the backup PG. Avent will redshirt. Teng/Divine One will transfer out. Jesse likely plays stretch 4 not 5.

@SlimSparty I think you start Jervis there just because we don’t know how he stacks up in college or the growth of Scott and Teng. But yeah this is a pretty interchangeable team position-wise. I hope the coaches lean into that and force teams to play big or small depending on our preference

@trblewithdaslap Can’t label alot of these guys as a set position.. Got a lot of flexibility with this roster.. I promise Jervis won’t be a 3rd string 2 guard
