So to answer the question….no, the AR-15 that is in common use today is not, and has never been, used by the military

It was later adopted and standardized as the M-16. After this, Colt decided to pursue the civilian market and created a redesigned

And whatever pictures you posted was from a gun manual from the manufacturer back in the 50’s when it was being developed
