Can't think of a more deserving @IRONMANtri champion than @LucyAnneCharles. Made it her sole focus from the time she transitioned from swimming, at a time when she could've made a lot of money racing other events.

Lots of videos like this from the rough swim start in Ireland yesterday. Also heard swim comment that the conditions may have changed quickly (for the worse) once the event had started. Does anyone have any contrasting video to show this?

Challenge Roth have said there will be no external media motorbikes on the course (only the live stream cameras) as they attempt to clean up the race. This was the response of one of triathlon’s leading photographers. Thoughts?

UPDATE: Due to extreme rain & winds and flash flooding expected, the bike course has been shortened to one 56-mile loop; the pros will go off at 7 a.m. (Weather permitting, we'll be on the ground for the Jan v. Lionel v. Gustav showdown in the morning.)

@Timheming Hope No. Would be good if pros old and new has some input.

While Lanzarote, a bit of history, and hot, windy island racing might be the romantic choice, if Ironman do move the World Championship, a couple of things seem certain: A. It will go to the highest bidder* B. It will be a two-day event** *Bad idea. **Good idea.

@Timheming Agree that $$$ will play some part in the decision process cuz that’s what they are about now. Records wouldn’t be comparable because of course diff. 2 day event only if not in a populated area, cuz only the city gets the $$$ and the locals get the headaches of closed roads.
