A great movie to watch with children- #CHIQUITA by @trivi143 Great interview too- interesting that the rigid and obnoxious son-in-law character is based on Indian evangelists! Indian converts are way more unpleasant towards Hindus than the originals. Watch & discuss with kids!

I just finished watching the short film Chiquita on Amazon Prime, and found it quietly powerful and deeply intriguing. We often hear of Western seekers who, with no prior knowledge of India or Hinduism, awaken to a spiritual calling, sometimes through a dream, sometimes through an inexplicable experience and eventually go on a quest for a Guru in India. This film tells the story of one such unlikely seeker: a rugged biker in the barren landscapes of Texas, who is jolted out of his routine existence into the awareness of a mystical realm. What stands out is the subtlety with which demagogic themes like the so-called "idol worship" are handled. The Hindu worldview is presented with sensitivity and nuance sans defensive posturing. Similarly, while the film refrains from outright polemics against Christian evangelism, it effectively portrays the arrogance of those who presume that all non-believers are destined for eternal damnation. It is meaningful to watch this movie during Navaratri when the presence of Devi can be felt everywhere. I did wish there were more explanations for non-Hindu audiences particularly about mantras and the profound concept of the Divine Feminine but perhaps restraint is a strength here. As the protagonist says, let there be lots of questions so that one can seek the truth oneself. One thing is certain: Gajulapalli Trivikrama, the creative force behind this film, is a talent to watch. His ability to weave authenticity into storytelling suggests that filmmakers like him can create cinema rooted in Bharatiya civilization while also resonating with global audiences. Chiquita is a promising step in that direction. Congratulations to @IndicaOrg for supporting this venture. The world is ready for more stories like this. This one felt like an appetizer. Can we have the main course please?
