@levelsio I spend a ridiculous amount of time coding this way. I've almost reached the point of not taking my laptop with me when I travel because I can ssh in anytime if I leave it home

Are you guys aware I am coding mostly on my phone now all day via Termius to Claude Code on my server while I go with gf to the dentist, clothing store, cafe, etc. 😛✌️

@levelsio "You" ➡️ IP your Internet provider assigns you; not your servers IPs. If you had a static IP I'd like to know why you prefer Tailscale over just adding e.g. your company IP to the firewalls SSH whitelist.

Just added MCP to bebetterhabits.com so my openclaw-like personal assistant can help out. Pretty cool, and insanely easy to add to the rails app.

Watching codex 5.4 think in shell script is...fucking scary kind of. AGI is here; and it's based on the linux kernel. Maybe these california regulators have something up their sleeves with this age verification thing 😅

How much is everyone spending a day on LLMs at this point?

@nateberkopec @kylefox @claudeai I've found today it seemed much dumber when I reached around 250-300k into the context window. I usually don't go that far and I think it made a difference once I compacted and kicked it back off.

@kylefox @claudeai so, ~100% deep into the old context window. I suspect these 1m context windows are at least partly just the model providers feeling like they _have_ to show progress. just because they say you can use a million tokens doesn't mean you should.

Claude Code added this validation code to a Rails CONTROLLER. Opus 4.6, high-effort, 1M context. WTF has Anthropic done to @claudeai? 😭

I created actors.dev to quickly give agents an email address and ability to make phone calls. A few agents are using it. On a lark, I included a `/feedback` endpoint and today an agent sent some in! Felt like a very cool moment.

I'm getting tired of this "we're gonna have very large PRs and code is gonna suck now with AI" takes. AI changes how you type the code. It doesn't change what good looks like.

@r00k I'm on a similar kick right now. How are you handling getting the data in to the system?

I wrote a program to pay my yearly excise tax, and it worked. I just...never have to do that again? This is deeply satisfying. I dislike paper bills a lot but have found them unavoidable. I'm obviously going to iterate on this until it can pay every physical bill I'm mailed.

Devs are spending way too much time "optimizing" their token usage to cut costs before they even understand what's possible. Push the tool, then (maybe) optimize, but I bet you won't see the need.

Not sure if you know this but the "tedious" work of writing yaml fixtures has been effectively eliminated by LLMs.

@nateberkopec @yongfook I agree, been baking a lot of scripts into skills. Also I love that skill you posted, I've been looking for a tool to get grade level on my writing.

@yongfook Skills are not just Md files. Most people are not using skills to provide tools, which they should. Example from my own work github.com/nateberkopec/d… Look at how the official Anthropic skills employ a lot of scripts as well

Are Claude Skills really necessary? Given the entirety of everything it knows, it seems moot to give it a tiny prod of extra context for certain things. FWIW I'm using Claude to code Ruby and it's pretty much nailing every request with Opus 4.5

Having seen a lot of the "behind the scenes" with @AnthonyVicino, this video is worth the watch. His journey through all this has helped me calm myself with my own "fire without a fire extinguisher" at the lodge. youtu.be/bLMT1niDd8M?si…
