"Student Outcomes" is just a trendy BS buzzword. It's whack-a-mole terminology conjured up by education elites to dodge accountability. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

Finally caught up on the California governor debates. What a waste of time! Simple questions get 3 types of replies: Aspirational nonsense, focus on the errors of others, or tap dance maybes. I really think there should just be yes, no, or pass buttons to answer these.

Do not forget that a difficult childhood also creates brilliance, creativity, and resourcefulness that other people have no access to.

🧵(2/10) The numbers: Of 256,700 voucher applicants: 45% are white (only 24% of TX public school kids are white); 23% are Hispanic (54% of public school kids are Hispanic); and a 73% SUPERMAJORITY were ALREADY in private school or homeschool It gets worse.

Question for parents who support “school choice”… are you wanting more school choice(s) for your kids or are you wanting to give public money to private education companies?

💁🏻‍♀️ Month 15 of me putting on the record that Education oversight in Nevada has been taken away from voters, all checks and balances removed, and complete power handed over to the Governor (& by extension the Gov’s appointees and the corporate interests that fund all of them)

It’s honestly wild to see all three former CCSD leaders, Jara, Larsen-Mitchell, and Gutierrez now reunited on a national “Center of Excellence for Teaching & Learning” team like nothing ever happened. No shame. No accountability. No reflection. Just… rebranding and moving on. For the public record:    •   Dr. Jesus Jara left CCSD after years of documented turmoil, board infighting, ethics complaints, employee mistrust, lawsuits, and a $250,000 buyout. These are facts reported by the AP, Nevada Current, and Nevada Independent.    •   Dr. Brenda Larsen-Mitchell, as interim superintendent, publicly acknowledged severe failures: proficiency rates below 30–40%, chronic absenteeism over 30%, and a major budget miscalculation that lawmakers said “cannot happen again.”    •   Melissa Gutierrez, as Deputy Superintendent of T&L, was repeatedly named in documents and board minutes related to instructional system breakdowns, vacancy crises, and litigation around inadequate oversight of student services. These aren’t “opinions”these are documented events under their leadership. Yet here they are, resurfacing together under a new banner as if CCSD families, teachers, and students didn’t just live through years of chaos. It says everything about the culture of education leadership at the highest levels: When systems collapse, the people who designed them get promoted elsewhere, while the communities who experienced the damage are left to rebuild. I’m simply noting the pattern and the fact that CCSD was not a one-person disaster. It was a leadership ecosystem. And now that same ecosystem is being packaged as a “Center of Excellence.” Nevada families deserved better than this.

Logan’s at about the midway point of burn unit… we think? He has his 4th burn surgery tomorrow. Burn unit is hard to explain 🤔 Every day is different and they repeat in 5-7 day cycles. 🧵
