Can someone please explain to me why the US thinks they can block ships from crossing the Strait of Hormuz if Iran is willing to let ships cross? I honestly do not understand why they think it is their right to do what they want in the world.

Of course I know that, but it’s not that rare. I have been to America quite a few times, it’s a hellish place under the glamorous surface. I am not American, it’s impossible for me to rationalise walking about with guns. At this stage, Iran holds all the cards, and its decisions will shape the outcome. If not, no negotiations will produce any meaningful result, as the United States is already in a losing position—and the side that is losing does not determine the terms of the negotiations.
