These individuals signed up for the military primarily to avoid jail time, not out of any genuine desire to serve or fight for our country. I would love to ask each one of them directly: What was your main reason for enlisting? Don’t join the armed forces only to turn around and complain about it. True service demands commitment and sacrifice, no one respects immature complaints from those who never intended to serve honorably in the first place.

Iran declares Strait of Hormuz “completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire,” specifically “on the coordinated route,” referring to the path that runs near Iran’s coast and Qeshm and Larak Islands. Trump responded by thanking Iran for opening the “STRAIT OF IRAN.”

In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.

@grok @Calibism1234 @ItsTheEnforcer That's not 1/3. Also, free land in prime European real estate isn't pocket change — that hidden cost to host nations is routinely left out of these calculations. The split varies wildly by country and the accounting depends entirely on what you include. - per Claude.

US military bases in Europe are primarily funded by the US Department of Defense budget—US taxpayers cover the majority of costs for personnel salaries, equipment, training, and operations (estimated $6-10B annually). Host nations provide substantial in-kind support (rent-free land, utilities, infrastructure, tax waivers) and some direct payments, covering roughly 1/3 of basing costs per historical analyses, but the US foots the rest.

As an American, it’s disappointing to see our government take so many actions that will prove destructive for our long-term success. We have seen our allies get treated like dogs while our enemies get sweet talked. We have seen the most powerful military alliance in the world (NATO) get weakened by US threats to invade Greenland — Not to mention the countless US statements of the alliance being a “paper tiger”. Then in the Middle East, a hasty and ill-planned war that completely neglected to keep the Strait of Hormuz open which might single-handedly give Iran the biggest victory in the history of their nation. All the while, US officials are taking trips to foreign countries and campaigning for foreign politicians that have ties to enemy states like Russia. And in the same visits, bashing our European allies and essentially declaring them as adversaries. I don’t know where this current path is going to lead us as a nation, but the outlook is not very good. It’s up to the three branches of government to carry out their constitutional duty to “check and balance” branches that may be acting against our interests — and right now they appear to be asleep at the wheel. The American people are great, and we will prevail — but it’s important for people to know where the situation actually stands. We are in uncharted territory as a nation. God bless the United States of America.

@grok @Calibism1234 @ItsTheEnforcer Mostly accurate but missing key context. That "1/3" figure comes from a 2013 RAND study using 2002 data — it's 20+ years old. Poland alone paid ~$3.6B to build facilities in Zagan AND covers annual sustainment costs like fuel, electricity, and water.

@Thorisodinsson @Doranimated Help themselves? The system wasn't broken. The Europeans were getting their oil shipment regularly. The US were the ones who screwed it up. Should the Europeans clean up Trump's mess? It's like burglar suing the homeowner because they got hurt while robbing them.

CENTCOM Commander Brad Cooper announced that the United States has begun establishing a new safe passage for commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The route will be shared soon to restore confidence and ensure the free flow of commerce. U.S. forces have already begun clearing Iranian-laid sea mines. Two Navy destroyers have transited the strait and are operating in the Gulf to secure the corridor. Underwater drones are now being deployed to accelerate the mine-clearing effort.

The United States is so toxic on the world stage right now that it can’t fill hotels or sell World Cup tickets. Let that land. FIFA projected $30.5 billion in economic impact from millions of international visitors. That demand never showed up. Hotels in Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, Philadelphia and San Francisco have slashed match-day rates by a third from their peak. FIFA has cancelled tens of thousands of reserved rooms across all 16 host cities. Some hotels report cancellation rates above 95%. The reasons aren’t hard to find. Anti-American sentiment. Fear of border crossings. The Iran war driving up oil prices and airfares. And tickets priced into the stratosphere, with finals seats hitting $10,990 a pop. Industry executives are now openly blaming the Trump administration for the shortfall. Tourism economists say the Iran war made an already bad sentiment problem worse. Empty stadiums are now a real possibility. It happened at the Club World Cup last summer. It could happen again, on American soil, at the biggest sporting event on the planet. The White House says this will be “the greatest World Cup ever.” The market disagrees. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

@Mystique992502 @ryangrim Winning would be us being in Tehran dictating the terms of Iranian surrender, not negotiating an agreement to open the strait of hormuz. Also having one of our battle group sailing around the horn of africa instead of going thru the red sea is not winning.

China is aggressively challenging the American naval blockade. The People's Liberation Army Navy just deployed a heavily armed task force to the Gulf of Oman. Beijing explicitly stated they will not allow Washington to dictate their global energy security. Chinese destroyers are preparing to actively escort their own mega-tankers right to the edge of the US kill box. A massive, direct standoff between American and Chinese naval assets is developing just outside the Strait.
