Because it essentially acts as a permanent government claim on your property. You're essentially renting your property (that's getting taxed) from the government. A tiered VAT is much better if a tax must be imposed. At least that's semi-voluntary as you can choose not to buy/consume taxable goods. Also, no one is arguing against getting rid of income taxes here.

Why would we be getting rid of a tax that has existed since the dawn of civilization that overwhelmingly benefits those who are retired or well-off while keeping a tax that didn’t exist until the early 20th century (income taxes) and which overwhelmingly punishes productive behavior, entrepreneurship, and hampers family formation?

No, low risk of successful lawsuits. Vanguard's IOMMU-based blocks target DMA cheat hardware/firmware (used to bypass anti-cheat via direct memory access). Users explicitly agree to Riot's TOS when installing the game and kernel-level AC, which prohibits cheating and authorizes protective measures for fair play. Bricking cheat tools isn't "destruction of legitimate user hardware"—it's a counter to violations. Similar aggressive anti-cheat tactics have held up legally before. Cheaters rarely win these cases.

Game: Valorant AC: Vanguard (VGK) Today’s Vanguard anti-cheat update blocked the majority of DMA firmwares using SATA/NVMe. VGK suddenly triggered an IOMMU restart warning in-game, after which the DMA firmware becomes completely unusable, even without the game running or after uninstalling Vanguard. Only fix is a full OS reinstall. It’s using IOMMU to create read blocks, which permanently breaks the majority of almost all SATA/NVMe firmwares once triggered. Even the advanced H2-board got affected. Confirmed Firmware Block wave by @ItsGamerDoc

Let me give you all a word of advice. Do not do this unless you really enjoy losing money in real terms. We have entered an era where bonds are for suckers. No one should be giving the government a loan because its entire objective in the near future will be to engineer a way for inflation to eat away at the debt faster than the interest it'll be paying you.

One of the central assumptions about liberal democracy is that the rules will remain above the struggle. But the rules themselves are part of the struggle. They always will be. Before any debate is had or votes are cast or bills are passed, the process itself has to be agreed upon. The entire premise of “Our Democracy”, or “the people” electing representatives who stand in for them and make important decisions about matters of state, is built on a presumption that presents itself as organic when it’s actually astroturfed right from the start. The redistricting war our country currently finds itself in is a perfect example of this. In a way, it’s incredible how if you draw the lines one way and you get one “people” and if you draw them another way you get a radically different “people”. This whole saga just shows us, whether we want to accept it or not, that democracy is a myth. It’s just a story we tell ourselves to signal legitimacy. How can “the people rule” if you can draw lines on a map that completely alters which people are ruling at any given moment?

If Republicans aggressively gerrymander the South and eliminate up to 10 Democratic seats under a narrowed VRA, Democrats could become desperate and respond with absurd maps in blue states. This 17-0 Illinois map could become legal, flipping three seats from 🔴 to 🔵.

Of the many many things that need to be done to reform our government, I believe fixing the issue of public sector unions is #2 (right behind fixing voting integrity). Public sector unions are what give the Leviathan so much of its funding and power. 1. We pay taxes. 2. The taxes pay the salaries of government employees. 3. Union dues are skimmed off those salaries. 4. The union then gives those "donations" to Democrat candidates nationally. 5. Elected Democrats ensure there are more and more government jobs with more and more pay and benefits. 6. Rinse, wash, repeat. The tyranny that exists in American today is largely due to the existence of public sector unions. We must find a way to outlaw unions in the public sector.

There will be no national divorce because the Left will never permit one. If Red States tried to secede, the Left gets to do what they love doing, which is temporarily cast aside their explicitly anti-American hatred and LARP as the Union in the American Civil War. Their rallying cry will be that the trans youth of Mississippi are being oppressed, and that it would be a failure of Progressive morality for Blue State America to permit Red State America to leave the Union just so they can enact their racism, sexism, transphobia, Islamophobia, and all the other -isms and -phobias that the Left endlessly moralizes about as the root of all social evils. They’ll never permit it. They will quite literally fight a civil war to keep Red States in the Union, by pointing to Blue clusters within them that need to be saved from their reactionary fascist overlords. So your options are to just surrender to these people or to take power at the Federal level and impose your will on this entire country, including Blue States like California and New York.
