@tudor

C++ nerd. @OpenAI, formerly @RocksetCloud. Not Rolex's little brother, not Tudor Dixon (she's horrible). Married to the amazing @liddybird. All opinions mine.

@ChShersh They’re both bad. The one on the left is exception safe at least. In the likely case that nullptr is an invalid value in the map, you should try_emplace nullptr, if the emplace succeeds you replace it with the new node (recover from exception here). Don’t call find/hash twice.

Same C++ function. One is generated with AI. The other one is written manually. Guess which one is which.

@yishan I’ve done plenty of programming and I still do 90% of debugging using logging statements and code inspection.

@jackunheard As long as they declassify the whole lists and not just curated excerpts that only contain Democrats, go for it. Pedophiles and rapists should go to prison, no matter the political party.

HOLY SH*T Trump’s Department of Defense Chief of Staff, Kash Patel, calls for the declassification of the Epstein and Diddy lists. All of Hollywood is about to fall.

@Andercot Build one, you’ll get a variance to test it over the desert, show how you manage the sonic boom, and the laws will change.

It is currently illegal to fly commercial supersonic planes overland in the United States. This is obviously dumb and should be changed immediately.

@lyndonbajohnson So I hate Trump and Elon with every fiber of my body, but 1. We don’t fire people for supporting the opponent, that’s Trump’s world, and 2. SpaceX is awesome and absolutely the best for the job.

@RobertMSterling So I’m on the left and I think this is stupid. Starlink and SpaceX are fucking great. I want the old Elon back.

When you vote tomorrow, remember that the core ambition of the contemporary left is using the mechanisms of state to reward their friends and punish their perceived enemies. Read the tweets in the screenshot below—if Kamala Harris wins, these will be the voices whispering in her ear, reminding her of favors owed and counseling utter ruination for those who dared oppose her. In their framework—the governing ethos of the Democratic Party, the media, and the administrative state itself—individual rights long ago ceased to exist. The notion of a common good is no longer a consideration, nor is the concept of consent of the governed. All that matters is power. It is their guiding force; their entire reason for existence. And not power as an abstraction, but power as a tool, used to provide patronage for those who comply and used to bring destruction to those who question. Bend the knee and you will be rewarded with government contracts, well-paying tenured positions in the administrative state, research grants, and all the myriad other perks a $6.75 trillion federal budget can afford. Resist, though—be it as a wealthy titan of industry funding the political opposition or even as a random nobody posting wrongthink on social media—and the full weight and might of Leviathan will be used to crush your will, break your spirit of resistance, and send a message to any who might do the same. And all the while, as the government you wrongly thought existed to serve you grinds you into politically toxic dust, the likes of Will Stancil will be there, smarmy grins across their mediocre faces, telling you one thing: You deserved this. Keep that in mind when you fill out your ballot tomorrow.

@whstancil No. That would be Trump-level unprincipled, to penalize federal suppliers based on who they supported in the election. That's what we're trying to avoid here. Plus it would be stupid pragmatically. SpaceX and Starlink are both very good.

@ggreenwald Sure. According the the Oxford Essential Dictionary, fascism is “an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.” MAGA is by their own admission authoritarian, nationalistic, and right-wing.

A helpful rule of discourse would be that anyone who calls someone a "fascist" has to offer a definition of what that term means.

@RichardHanania Also: it’s somewhat ironic that the same people who hate the idea of government databases (hated Real ID for example) and don’t want the government to track them are now supporting a government database of all citizens that needs accurate addresses for everyone.

@RichardHanania We should improve election security. I 100% support voter ID if implemented correctly— the state must make it easy for every citizen to get such an ID for free and without hassle. If you can do that (it’s slow and expensive), go for it. 1/2

19 year-old Chinese student, non-citizen, arrested for voter fraud in Michigan. He was able to register to vote based on his student ID, and signed a statement identifying himself as a US citizen. The only reason he got caught was he asked for the ballot back. But his ballot will still count because there's no way to retrieve it. Of course the vast majority of people never ask for their ballot back. So how often does this happen? What are we even doing here?

real talk why would TSMC allow USA to build a factory in the states when doing so would remove Taiwan's biggest protection against invasion? meaning: America would maybe go to war defending Taiwan for the chips, but probably wouldnt if we already had the chips

@feelsdesperate Really? The Soros family are openly Democratic and donate a lot to Democratic candidates. This is well known and not at all behind close doors. The Soros conspiracy theory, though, feels desperate.

@myunhingedtweet @PrivacyLawyerD The more prosaic explanation is that some company has to apply for OTC classification and no one cares any more now that the patents have expired. Wikipedia says it’s prescription-only in US CA UK EU AU, not just in the US.

@myunhingedtweet @PrivacyLawyerD I wonder why it isn’t! It’s well tolerated and very effective. Maybe because nausea is often a symptom of more serious illnesses so people shouldn’t be able to hide it so easily?
