I don't have any personal connections with anyone at @OpenAI, but I do hope they all find a way to reunite, move forward, and work together again — as OpenAI — in short order. Sometimes something just happens with the right people in the room. And breaking those people up — no matter how well funded or connected they are — can't be replicated in a new room. Something undeniably special happened in that OpenAI room. And given their momentum, there's more where that came from. Timing is a huge factor in all creation. Happenstance, is too. Many things don't happen again, even if you reassemble the same people, but sparks are more likely to ignite when you've already caught fire with those folks before. You see it with bands. They lose a member, they're not the same. A better musician can fill the gap, but the music's just missing something. Getting a still-capable band back together is a brighter thing that trying to form a new one. Short breakups can lead to long loves. A little more tension can be a good thing, as long as a new understanding is in place. Reconcile and smile. So here's to something special continuing. Reunite. Fingers crossed.
