📊🏴 Alex Scott, data report
+ standout creative/going forward trait is his vision and ability to executed through balls for runners
+ excellent dribbler in tight spaces; good success rate and ability to draw fouls relative to volume
+ wins in the air relative to age peers, numbers in this department have improved over the past three seasons
+ pretty quality oop too; defends space well and is pretty front footed in terms of duel volume
- despite relatively high volume of attacking penalty area touches, his final product output has been pretty poor so far in his career
- passing numbers across the board have fallen off a cliff this year; I expected improvement with more consistent game time, so this is a legitimate concern
➡️ Probably best suited as a b2b no. 8 considering tight space ability and out of possession motor. I was really looking for a big step forward from him this season with the anticipated (and delivered) consistent first team minutes. In some regards he has, but his passing numbers taking a nose dive is a big surprise to me (and a real issue imo).
Things like carry efficiency generally drop w/ more minutes and responsibility in the team, but passing numbers tend to go up around this time. Looking at someone like Elliot Anderson (similar age, time in the PL), he's seen his overall carrying efficiency decline w/ his higher usage, but his passing numbers have gone up in conjunction. The exact opposite for Scott. Perhaps there are on-pitch reasons for this, but a concern nonetheless.

@IanM1st I bet you said same thing about Pirlo too back then. They make a team organized and tidy. He's also a willing runner and worker.

🚨 Historical decision by Union Berlin as German club appoint Marie-Louise Eta as their head coach until June.
Union lost at Heidenheim, sacked the head coach Steffen Baumgart and put Marie-Louise Eta in charge until the end of the season.
Ets becomes the first female head coach in the history of men’s Bundesliga.

I am suing @Arsenal football club for emotional distress, among other offences. This kind of performance is unacceptable!

@afropolitan With the recent evolution of successful fintechs into owning banking licenses, who can say he's wrong again?
English

Every FinTech founder thinks they're disrupting banks.
Andrew Alli says they're just becoming them — eventually.
Is he right?

This is quite interesting. Nigeria's multi ethnicity shouldn't be seen as a problem if well managed then

200 years ago, most people in France didn't even speak French. So why do we treat African fragmentation as permanent? Andrew Alli on the history lesson nobody taught us. #AfropolitanPodcast #Africa #History #PanAfrica #AfricanDiaspora

@Rufyb On a scale of 1 to 10, what's your rating of the Verod Capital and Tangerine deal? Can you also consider the Africa Capital Alliance and Union Bank deal a successful one?

Andrew Alli made a very important point about the private equity model in Africa, and why it is one of the banes to effective value creation.
According to him, the private equity model in Africa typically involves taking minority stakes, with founders retaining majority control.
This creates two structural constraints:
✑ Limited control over value creation
Unlike in markets such as the United States, where private equity firms often pursue full buyouts and can directly drive operational and strategic changes, African PE investors are largely dependent on the founder. Execution, speed, and decision-making remain in the hands of the entrepreneur, which can limit how much value can be unlocked.
✑ Exit challenges due to ownership dynamics
There is often a strong emotional attachment to ownership among founders. While PE investors may be ready to exit, typically by selling to a larger strategic buyer, these buyers usually prefer full control. That requires the majority owner to sell as well. Sadly, this alignment does not happen in most cases, making exits difficult or delayed.
The net effect is that even when value is successfully created, the ability to fully realise it is constrained, both by limited control during the investment period and friction at exit.
Andrew Alli added that there are some that are still successful even with their minority stakes.
Some successful deals include:
✑ Helios Partners and Interswitch
✑ Africa Capital Alliance and ABC Transport
✑ CardinalStones and i-Fitness
✑ Verod Capital and Tangerin APT Pensions

@princesirdik He was remarkably calm and diligent in and out of possession today. Not sure I have seen a much more commanding performance against Arsenal's midfield all season. Never panicked on the ball

Surprised Alex Scott isn't being linked with some top clubs, he made Zubimedi look so average today. United and other clubs looking for midfield reinforcements should be looking at him #ManUtd
