The Bidwell signing really does make me stratch my head. He is a solid performer at this level, and in a four he'd be fine but Swansea got rid of him because he wasn't good enough going forwards to play in a five. Which is exactly how we play.

@maxrushden Highfield Road usually scrubbed up ok. I think what happened here was they dumped sand on the pitch to fix undersoil heating. It didn't work. And then they were left with a sandy pitch! I even think they mooted using helicopter to blow the sand away. Also failed.

@philclarke0170 @maxrushden That's the irony! I'm not sure Highfield Road had a particularly bad reputation for pitch quality (probably best known for being all-seater?). But the Baseball Ground certainly did! That pitch would have probably felt like a home game for Derby!
