🌏 SPF at the CBD/COP16 Biodiversity Summit🌏 “It was a very useful experience discussing biodiversity policy issues with youth delegates from around the world and interacting with government representatives and experts,” said Mr. Tyrell Gittens, a member of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) and a national of Trinidad and Tobago. He presented GYBN’s policy messages at the Ocean Days event, held on Sunday, October 27, during CBD/COP16. ----- SPF was on the ground at the 16th United Nations Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD/COP16) in Cali, Colombia. We had the privilege of engaging in insightful conversations with our partners and stakeholders throughout the event. Describing his research, Ramadhar Singh said, "I looked at what the results would be if we model certain scenarios of renewables within the national grid. What will it mean for the grid if both wind and solar farms are generating energy?" Read more: sta.uwi.edu/uwitoday/artic…

Dr Ramadhar Singh’s findings provide insight on how much utility-scale PV & wind the country can realistically transition to & operate on in the near term. One of the most feasible renewable models he ran showed a mix of wind and solar energy. Read more: sta.uwi.edu/uwitoday/artic…
