If he can tax the second homes of millionaires, that are worth $5M or more, that means it’s only a matter of time before he goes after the second homes of average, hard working, everyday Americans that are barely making it. Diabolical.

Non-residents who spend millions of dollars on NYC apartments help drive NYC’s economy. Most of the profit in condominium development is in the penthouses. The Ken Griffins of the world make NYC high end development viable, driving high-paying construction, brokerage, legal, marketing, and other jobs in NYC. We should be applauding Ken for spending $238 million in NYC, not attacking him for doing so. Importantly, non-resident owners of NYC apartments who leave their apartments vacant for much of the year are not a burden to NYC schools, services, or other resources while they drive growth in retail sales, restaurants, theater, and other important drivers of our economy. They also often support NYC non-profits with donations. Ken’s company is a major employer in NYC of very high paying jobs which drive a considerable amount of our tax base. We wouldn’t want him to move even more employees to Miami. These non-resident owners also already pay a lot of taxes including mansion taxes, real estate taxes, sales taxes and more. While @NYCMayor Mamdani likes the tag line ‘Tax the rich.’ Unfortunately, his policies will harm the constituencies he is supposedly trying to help. I can’t imagine the NYC construction unions are excited about his plan.

The Pope’s actions risk damaging these positive changes too. The Pope should focus only on spiritual leadership and faith, not on politics. 🟥🟥Many Catholics now believe he should resign so the Church can choose a new, conservative Pope who will protect our traditions and stay out of partisan matters. Kære alle En lille opdatering herfra oven på min øjenoperation. Det går heldigvis godt og lægernes vurdering er, at det går den rigtige vej. Det er jeg selvsagt rigtig glad og lettet over, for det var selvfølgelig noget af en forskrækkelse, da jeg blev ramt af sygdommen. Selvom det går fremad og jeg fysisk har det meget bedre, så er det lægernes anbefaling, at jeg fortsat holder mig i fysisk ro de næste uger. De anbefalinger lytter jeg selvfølgelig til - og for bare at være helt ærlig, så kommer jeg ikke til at tage chancer, når det gælder mit syn og helbred. Derfor er jeg ærligt talt også noget rystet over, at jeg i går af en politisk kommentator i en DR-podcast bliver kaldt både ‘svag’, og at det er et ‘kæmpe svaghedstegn’, at jeg ikke deltog i regeringsforhandlingerne i mandags, fordi jeg har ‘ondt i øjet’. Normalt gider jeg ikke synke ned på det niveau. Men helt ærligt, nu er min grænse nået for, hvad jeg vil finde mig i! Jeg har været meget tæt på at miste mit syn på grund af en nethindeløsning og jeg skal holde mig i ro i håbet om at få mit syn tilbage. Ingen er mere ked af den situation end mig. Derfor går der også lidt endnu, før jeg kommer til at være fysisk til stede til alle møder. Heldigvis er telefonen jo opfundet, og den bliver brugt flittigt i disse uger til drøftelser med mine partilederkollegaer og vores stærke hold i Venstre.
