The one thing about Cal is that he has always sold his school and its benefits and now the NIL. But Cal, more than anything, knows that he's the pitch. He's the one they'll play for. He's the reason they'll come. Mark Pope has to make that his appeal too to attract elite players.

And just to bottom-line it: Kentucky is not comporting itself as a top program in college basketball under Pope. It just isn’t. Zero lottery pick-level high school recruits signed, one top-15 transfer (with a torn ACL) signed in three cycles.

When Mark Pope was hired, the biggest question mark was whether he could recruit elite talent. Two years later, that's still a major concern. In fact, Kentucky feels like repellant to the top high school players right now. At a point, that simply cannot be allowed to continue.

Shocker: the staff that has apparently cut off its ties to most media and insiders was seemingly unaware of Tyran Stokes already being signed to Kansas. Kentucky got played, plain and simple.

Mark Pope and his staff have a lot of work to do. Not only to rebound from Tyran Stokes. Not only to show real signs of improvement after a disappointing season. But to make me and a lot of #BBN believe in them again. Absolutely no faith in Kentucky right now to do anything.
