The excuses for Mbappe that he’s not a 9, and so he shouldn’t be expected to move in certain ways are silly. Bellingham and Valverde aren’t No 9s either, but they make a lot of runs into space, to occupy defenders, stretch defences, and give themselves opportunities in front of goal. It’s not as complicated as many are making it seem.
