@underthreaded @bagder @ladybirdbrowser Haven't been able to delete all of it yet, since we still have other components (Web Sockets, Web Crypto, ...) that depend on various HTTP & crypto data structures. So far I've removed ~5'000 lines. There's maybe another ~20'000 to remove.

Working on putting @ladybirdbrowser networking on top of curl (cc @bagder) 🐞🥌 Massive speed-up compared to our old HTTPS stack (that we built from scratch for SerenityOS). Uncached load of my For You page goes from 38 sec to 8 sec! 🤓🚀

@WickedMcCat @ChShersh For sure, maybe I'm a weirdo but actually working to making something better that it was before is pretty fun. The real enemy is finding the time (or agreement to spend the time) to do anything about it. Management, politics and economics - our dauntless overlords

@underthreaded @ChShersh That being said, it also presents its own unique challenges to be surmounted. I guess like every other thing mentioned under the OP, haha.

When did you realise that job in tech is not what you expected? For me it was the moment when I learned that my relationship with a manager impacts my career in tech significantly more than my actual coding skills.

@ChShersh I feel data plumbing is underrated because it can be super impactful. It's certainly not glamourous and it can be tedios, but finding nice solutions to those problems is pretty satisfying IMO

@underthreaded So relatable. It can be quite interesting to work on fancy algorithms. Data plumbing is not so interesting.
