Xabi Alonso is a winner, first and foremost. It's a shame it has taken BlueCo 4 years to figure out that crucial component of Chelsea's DNA. It doesn't look like the Chuckle Brothers are going anywhere, so hopefully whatever we do this summer improves the coherence of the squad.

This again comes down to standards - something @unknownTweed talks about a lot when comparing Chelsea to previous iterations
Standards simply don’t allow you to have a floor as low as ours
We lack habits, and the leaders to enforce those habits
That won’t be fixed quickly

I’d argue this is one of our biggest issues
No team is 10/10 every game, but good teams don’t drop below 7/10
We often drop to 2/10 and that can’t happen if we want to challenge

@goalie59 It might be because I'm paying less attention, but it does feel like we're in that phase where someone is anointed as the second coming based on a few half decent games. When you step back and look at the whole season, so many "big" names have failed to deliver.

Extends to fans as well as players. People making excuses for players who have 'done well' for like ⅓ of the season? If that? Talking about 'world class' and 'potential' when you can't even get near to sustaining a 7/10 over a season is madness.

@SonOfChelsea Even players I've had time for (and probably excuses for), I'm largely done with. It will be the icing on the cake when they turn up at Wembley, thump the badge, and put on a performance. And everyone buys in. Again. And will be let down. Again.

@unknownTweed Just recorded a pod and there's barely any players I feel like vouching for anymore. The culture is so clearly horrendous and the performances from many of them have been sickening for weeks.
