Polygons were only used in graphics because they allowed for a mathematically simple and computationally cheap way to pin pixels spatially in a temporally coherent manner.
With these new AI visualization tools, first theorized by Heinlein in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress (1966), polygons will no longer be necessary and will likely die out once AI tooling reaches the levels of computational speed, code efficiency, and temporal coherence (frame to frame).
Eventually there is a crossing point where the AI visualization tools will be more efficient and more photorealistic than polygons and physics based render engines without any of the tediousness of modeling, rigging, animating, UVing, texturing, and rendering required for traditional tessellated raster graphics.
