I can’t even say I feel sorry for you. You’re publicly lamenting being “wronged” simply because a political party discarded you. But for a moment, think about the countless lives that were destroyed, silenced, tortured, and in some cases lost, at the hands of leaders and goons from your former political camp. Night after night, you sat on national television defending these unscrupulous politicians, dismissing allegations, and often gaslighting victims who were speaking about horrific experiences. Just pause for a second and think about what those people and their families must have endured - the fear, the pain, the helplessness. So no, Mr. Dutta, this doesn’t earn you sympathy. You changed sides when the political winds shifted. If you truly seek redemption, start by sincerely apologising to the victims whose suffering was repeatedly brushed aside under political rhetoric and convenient talking points. That is where accountability should begin.

We never needed this caste breakdown. It simply doesn’t matter to most Bengalis. What’s difficult to understand is why there’s such a persistent attempt to impose a caste divide on Bengal, when our society has traditionally neither cared for nor identified itself through such divisions.

Some voids can never truly be filled - the void left by Mr. Chandranath Rath is certainly one of them. That said, Mr. Subrata Gupta is perhaps among the finest leaders to carry forward that legacy, with the vision and capability to guide the new government towards greater heights and play a defining role in Bengal’s growth story.
