19-yr-old girl sentenced to d+ath for killing her 30-yr-old husband just 9 days after their wedding in Kano
A Kano High Court has sentenced 19-year-old Sa’adat Jibrin to d+ath by h@nging for the culpable h@micide of her 30-year-old husband, Salisu Idris, just nine days after their wedding.
Jibrin, who resides in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State, was convicted after the court found that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, July 30, 2026, Justice Maryam Sabo ruled, “I hereby sentence Saadat Jibrin to d+ath by hanging for culpable h@micide. You have 90 days to appeal.”
Earlier, prosecution counsel, Lamido Abba-Sorondinki, told the court that Jibrin committed the offence on May 5, 2025, at Farawa Quarters in Kano.
According to him, at about 9 p.m., Jibrin allegedly laced her husband’s “Zoho” drink before att@cking him with a kn#fe.
The prosecution presented two witnesses in support of its case, while Jibrin denied committing the offence.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 221(a) of the Penal Code.
However, defence counsel Abdulfatah Muhammad pleaded for leniency, telling the court that Jibrin had become a changed person while in custody and had memorised the Holy Qur’an.
He also urged the court to consider that she was the eldest child in her family and that her siblings depended on her for survival.

PART 1: The First Crack*
Lilian Hartman was the epitome of modern fame. With 2.4 million followers, she had crafted a perfect, picture-perfect life online — flawless skin, trendy outfits, and astonishing travel escapades. Each post overflowed with likes and comments, layering her existence with a veneer of joy that was palpable even through the screens of her followers. But beneath the carefully curated façade lay a secret that not even the most perceptive fans could see: loneliness. In her oversized apartment that seemed far too quiet without the hum of her audience, Lilian often felt like a ghost in the world she created.
That illusion shattered one bleak evening when she began to receive anonymous messages. At first, they seemed like harmless pranks — jokes from jealous fans or trolls trying to get under her skin. Yet, that night, she received her first death threat.
“Tonight will be your last post. A car accident waits for you.”
She laughed it off, her sharp instincts urging her to ignore it. But the next day, the news broke: a prominent influencer was killed in a car crash just blocks from her apartment. Chills cascaded down her spine, whispering a haunting truth she couldn’t comprehend.
Still, the allure of clout tugged at her. She screenshot the damning message and posted it with the caption: “Just getting threats, no big deal! #LivingMyBestLife.” Engagement soared as comments flooded in — supportive, alarmed, and curious. But her satisfaction turned to horror when, hours later, she received another message:
“Fire in your kitchen. Burn baby burn.”

I've learned that better opportunities rarely come from waiting. They usually come after becoming the kind of person who's ready for them.
Small shifts in how you think, the habits you build, and the way you show up each day quietly change what you're able to attract.
Growth isn't about becoming someone else. It's about becoming a better version of yourself, one intentional step at a time.
The journey starts with the relationship you have with yourself.
What are you working on improving right now?
