I recently spoke with @hahnbeelee from @mintlify (@ycombinator W22) about building developer tools, and found striking similarities in our journeys. We both started building for developers because we are developers - solving problems we personally encountered. At @a1baseapi, we faced integration headaches when building AI agents, dealing with communication channels, regulations, and compliance. This frustration became our north star for creating something that would streamline developers' workflows. The most valuable insight from our conversation? Meet developers where they are. Hahnbee shared how instead of building fancy web editors, they integrated with GitHub and developers' existing environments. What started as a temporary solution became a core feature developers loved - they didn't have to switch contexts to update docs. Similarly, they chose configuration files over dashboard settings because developers want API-level control, not UI limitations. These decisions weren't obvious at first, but came from truly understanding how developers work. This approach reflects our lesson at A1Base: genuine care for users, paired with a focus on real-world impact, sparks meaningful improvements. We’re only beginning to explore what’s possible.
