These are people stuck at sea in dangerous conditions, unable to move, while the blockade grinds on.
One-third of the world's maritime oil trade flows through that strait. When it stops, everything stops: fuel, food, goods, and apparently 20,000 human beings caught in the middle of a geopolitical standoff they have nothing to do with.

The Komala Party is one of Iran's most prominent Kurdish opposition groups. They operate from Iraqi soil precisely because they can't operate from Iranian soil.
