Yesterday was one of the most devastating days of my life. My adoptive family disowned me when I transitioned twenty years ago. This year, I made a fresh effort to reach out and see if there was room for us to mend these wounds. I got word through a family friend that they have no interest whatsoever in ever speaking again. They feel that I made a decision in transitioning, and that is the end of our relationship.
